Should there be stricter narcotics laws?

Question by : Should there be stricter narcotics laws?
I say yes, because drugs like, lsd, crack, pot, heroin, etc. ruin the american family life and take away the lives of innocent youth when they are in their prime. They also hurt the economy because dealers get their money illegally.

Would it be better if there was stricter penalties for the use, distribution, and possession of narcotics?
There are unheard deaths everyday due to narcotics.

Whether it’s auto or health more people would die if narcotics were legalized.
I think police should beat anyone who uses, distributes, and possesses an illegal substance.

Answer by ThisGuy
No. If anything, they are too strict as it is. Billion’s of tax dollars are wasted keeping people locked up for small time charges. I’d rather you legalize it, regulate it, tax it and get rid of the crime aspect all together.

Q&A: Are there any natural antidepressants available that would work on an alcoholic?

Question by Stacy: Are there any natural antidepressants available that would work on an alcoholic?
My father in law is an alcoholic. He is 60+ and it does not appear that he has an interest in getting help with his alcoholism. He’s gone to the VA…they gave him antidepressants. However, he won’t take them because he can’t drink while taking them. Is anyone familiar with any natural antidepressants that won’t effect him negatively if he continues to drink?

Best answer:

Answer by Leo D
Yerba mate tea. Get the Bija brand, it’s the best. Put some local honey in it, it will help his immune system.

Also, the doctor needs to give him folic acid, it helps alcoholics.

And give him a food multi-B and lots of vitamin C and D.

Q&A: in california if you violate the patient physician narcotics law are there any consequences?

Question by go_pali: in california if you violate the patient physician narcotics law are there any consequences?
my friend violated his patient physician narcotics agreement bye having two doctors prescribe medication are there any consequences to this

bye the ways hes not a drug addict and he wasnt doctor shopping
i meant patient physician narcotics agreement

Best answer:

Answer by Kvdp
I’d suggest there might be clinical consequences, if he’s on two different kinds of treatment without coordination between the two. One of the biggest challenges for clinicians is patients self-medicating or mixing up treatments – it makes it much harder to help them.

If your friend isn’t an addict and wasn’t doctor shopping, I can only think he wanted help, and in order to help, the doctor needs all relevant information, including other treatment regimes in place.

If your friend’s doctor is professional, then whatever has happened, his concern will still be to help your friend, providing that does not put the doctor himself at risk. If treatment is still needed, then that is still the most important thing, and most likely the main concern for everybody. So he should go back to the doctor preferred, and explain what has happened if he needs to.

Everyone makes mistakes, but the main thing is continue to get the necessary health advice, learn from the mistake and move on. Hope that’s useful.

If you want a legal answer, sorry, but perhaps someone else can help.

I’ve Been Summoned for a Credit Card Debt. Should I Hire a Lawyer or Is There Another Option?

Question by Tiffany W: I’ve Been Summoned for a Credit Card Debt. Should I Hire a Lawyer or Is There Another Option?
I have a credit card bill for about 00 that has been closed and bought by a debt buyer (Portfolio Recovery Associates) and they have recently summoned me for a civil suit. From what I’ve read, I can’t have my wages garnished in NC for credit card debt unless they get another state to order the garnishment, but the lawsuit is in a NC court and VA (the state where Portfolio Recovery Associates is headquartered) doesn’t seem to allow it either. Also, some sources (credit lawyers’ websites) say that debt buyers don’t really do well in court because they don’t usually have the documentation that they need to prove the case. According to the lawyers, the debt buyers are hoping that I won’t show up and they’ll get a default judgment – assurance that I’ll have to pay and a 20-year extension on how long they have to collect. I have a few smaller past due accounts that I would also like to pay off, but I can’t afford to pay everyone at once, especially if i make large lump sum payments on any particular account. I don’t have much money and my husband and I are struggling to recover from unemployment issues from the past two years. Therefore, I want to make the best long-term financial decision without spending more money than necessary. Does anyone with experience in this situation have advice? Would hiring a lawyer be worth the money? Is there a way to get a free but legit legal consultation (maybe local government resources)?

Best answer:

Answer by Michael T
If the lawsuit is in NC, then they have to use that court system to garnish wages. You are correct that NC does not allow wage garnishment except for child support and taxes. However you are incorrect about VA which does allow wage garnishment for consumer debt.

If they are filing a lawsuit in NC (which I believe is required since that is where the debt was acquired), then it is likely that they are trying to extend the statute of limitations or possibly garnish your bank accounts.

My landlord lied and we’re getting evicted. Is there anything I can do?

Question by chester: My landlord lied and we’re getting evicted. Is there anything I can do?
We were behind about a month & a 1/2 on rent and were served papers to goto court for possible eviction. Well we were able to pay “almost” all of what we owed before the court date. Our landlord said that’s great and not to worry about bothering with court, that he’d take care of it. My husband trusted him even though I warned him not to, and didn’t show up to court. (I would have gone myself, but I just got out of the hospital after having surgery). The day after court we got a notice saying that we did not appear in court and we are in default. The order says “The Writ of recovery of Premises and order to vacate shall be issued immediately upon request and payment of fee, & allowable costs & disbursements to the prevailing party. So it sounds like he did indeed screw us over. I spoke with the landlord and he said if we can’t come up with ALL of Decembers rent by Dec. 5th,(which we can’t) then we are out. I realize we made a huge mistake by not appearing in court, but is there anything left to do from here? Also, when we first moved in here, we were asked to pay the last months rent(but didn’t have it) so we made an arrangement to pay 50.00 each month towards the last months rent. Well december is when the “last months rent” would’ve been paid up. So we are short 100.00 of the last months rent being paid in full. My other question is if we finish paying Novembers rent, and the last 100.00 of the last months rent, then we’d actually be paid up through december, and able to live here untill the end of december, is that correct? Please anyone with knowledge on this let me know our options, if any. Thank you.
Thanks for your informative answers. Hmmm, to the real estate guys answer-We have always been on time with rent, up untill the last couple months. But because we’re 0.00 short on rent, is that an ok reason to send a family with young children out of their home during the holidays? Is it ok to lie to us and tell us we don’t need to come to court, and act like he’s looking out for our best interests? Legally yes, but that’s about it. By the way, good luck selling those houses.

Best answer:

Answer by Landlord
No, you are incorrect.

You have already been evicted. The sheriff will honor the writ and move you out of the property if you are still there.

It really would have ended the same if you had gone to court. You have not paid the rent and you are still refusing to pay in full, the judge will award the eviction.

Now you owe the back rent still, all of the costs of the eviction and have to leave. That is what the judge has ordered. There is no appeal.

Your only options are to leave on your own by the due date or with the sheriff hauling you out. You will be arrested for trespassing if you refuse to leave with teh sheriff or return.

Q&A: Is there a chance of me regaining custody of my two girls?

Question by Amanda777: Is there a chance of me regaining custody of my two girls?
I lost custody of my children 8 long months ago. I tested dirty for marijuana, cocaine, and prescrip. drugs. I have now been on the straight and narrow this whole 8 months and I am fighting to get them back to live with me instead of their father who himself was a user of drugs,a dealer, and abused me-He by some chance passed his test on that day(he knew about the test in advance) now he has seemed to get straight too ,but without the counseling, classes, groups e.t.c that I have done to find my real self for once. The courts, amicus and judge just will not hear me or understand. I work part time 2 days with a full time income while they are in a daycare setting 13 hrs. per day. The average time the father (that continues to drink, despite the court order not alllowing him too) spends 3 hrs per day with the 4&2 yr olds. I have done all I can, what else can I do? No attorneys I can find are familiar with recovery and know how to represent me. Will the justice system work and give me a chance

Is there any UK law against selling caffeine powder and pretending its crack cocaine?

Question by Johndude: Is there any UK law against selling caffeine powder and pretending its crack cocaine?
First of I live in the UK.

Secondly, theres a lot of druggies near where Iive and I’m planning to buy some caffeine powder of the internet and pretend its Cocaine.

Theres no laws against caffeine so if I get caught doing this buy the police I’ll just own up and say it was caffeine.

Can anything happen to me if I get caught? Thanks :)

Best answer:

Answer by Marianne T
Oh, I think your best scenario would be to get caught by the police. If those druggies get you first, you will be dead. They aren’t going to think this was a great idea. Trust me.

Q&A: Child custody battle, those of you that have been there, what can I expect?

Question by Jennifer: Child custody battle, those of you that have been there, what can I expect?
We live in MO. We were not married. I made him move out literally right before I found out that I was pregnant, after my teen daughter and I witnessed him falling over drunk (this was an ongoing problem, and he smokes pot frequently). Our son is now 5 months old. I was served papers the day after I hired an attorney. He is asking the courts for joint custody, him as the custodial, me paying child support (he filed this in response to the DSS ordering him to pay child support). I just signed my response last week. I’m asking for sole legal and physical custody, with supervised visitation in my home for him. I have a really good attorney, with many years of experience in this field, and he’s also served as a judge. He has told me that judges do not give sole custody these days unless there is a good reason and it can be proven, and he feels I have a strong case and that the judge see’s fathers who file for custody to get out of child support all the time and that he won’t be fooling anyone. FYI, he has not paid me any support, only picked up occasional items that I asked him to up until I decided to cease his visits- because of his refusal to help support, his continued drinking and drug use, and his verbal abuse.

I guess I’m wanting to get a clearer picture of the process and what I can expect. My lawyer has sent out discovery, I haven’t received anything yet. He plans to get hair drug testing ordered (alcohol and marijuana abuse), and I’m told a gardien ad leitum may be appointed for my son. Will the judge order us to do DNA testing even though the father signed the affidavit at the hospital claiming paternity and is obviously asking for a paternity ruling in order to ask for joint custody?

Any info would be appreciated, especially an idea on time-lines. Thanks for reading!

Also, I know there are decent men out there who genuinely want to take care of their kids and be a part of their lives, who can’t because of vindictive mothers who are using their kids to hurt them. That is not what is happening in my case. Feedback would be much appreciated!
Yes I know I made a huge mistake being with this guy. He was really good at hiding what he was really like in the beginning, these things came out little by little over the course of our relationship. The first time I confronted him about his problems, he actually cried and promised me he would get himself under control. He didn’t obviously. When it hit the point that I knew he would never change and I’d had enough, I was already pregnant.

why do you women have babies with drug addicts and alcoholics, then turn around and blame them for being indecent? jesus christ.

luckily for you, judge will def not give him sole custody.if he tests dirty, he will be ordered for supervised visits [which may not happen in your home on your watch] and will be ordered to take AA/NA classes.

Q&A: Is there PA law that allows parents to force their minor child (15) into drug rehab?

law drug rehab
by Steffe

Question by Cassie: Is there PA law that allows parents to force their minor child (15) into drug rehab?

Its actually for my child. I called a few treatment centers and they said they won’t take her. I find it appalling a parent wouldn’t have this right over their child!

Best answer:

Answer by Lynn
If your parents have custody of you, then yes, they can require you to go to drug rehab, or military school, or boarding school, as long as the facility is itself legal and licensed.

ETA: The facilities you’re contacting may not want to take anyone, minor or not, who has to be forced into rehab. It’s not a question of law but the choice of the facility about who they treat.

Does my kids step mom have the right to keep my kids when there dad is not there to exercise parental time?

I have a court order that gives my kids father certain parental visitation times. Generous access and visitations. However my concern/problem is that their dad works away or has courses to do with work or at the moment is in rehab for the last 3 weeks and is no where around when my kids go to their place. They don’t see him and they talk to him on the phone very seldom. It bugs me, hurts me, and I feel is taken away my time I can have with my own children to bond, play, do homework etc. Do I have to let my kids go their when he’s not there? Do I have that legal say? Their father is not around for his parental time which is giving to him. He’s got the parental time not her. They are married however. Its good that she may want to be involved with my kids nothing wrong with that when their dad is around. When he is not why cant they stay with their own mom who has been stable, sane, and whom they have been raised mainly with? My children boy and girl like to go there for the simple fact that she has son they play with. Its always about him. Not her. I don’t know what to do. What kind of person keeps someone else’s kids from their mother and their father is not there to spend time with them? I need advice that is in reference to Alberta Laws

Is there anyway to find out who recieves mail at an address?

My daughters mother lives out of state. She wants my daughter to come and visit her. Which I have to let her visit (court order)but she has been seeing someone and want even tell me this guys last name. She claims he does not live there but all of her family says that he does. It worries me because half of her family dosen’t know anything about this guy either and plus they met in rehab!! I have checked sexual predators in her area and none of them are registered at her address and there is none that have his first name. But she could be lying about that also (and no I don’t care that she is seeing someone…I have been happily married for 5 yrs now) I really can’t afford to take it back to court right now so I’m just trying to figure out whats going on. Is there someway I can find out who recieves mail at that address? She rents the home so the reverse address search came up with who rents it out to her. I would like to at least know this guys last name before I send my baby there!
