Can someone here tell me how to find an alcohol rehab in Monroeville, Pennsylvania?
Posted by admin in Uncategorized on June 26, 2010
My daughter has turned to alcohol ever since her dad died. They were always so close and his passing away was really hard on her. Last night we had a talk, and I made her realize that her dad won’t be happy with her if he knew what she was doing to herself. She has already agreed to treatment. What should I do in order for me to find an alcohol rehab for her?
After pleading guilty to an underage possession when am I allowed to tell the judge my corrections?
Posted by admin in Uncategorized on June 26, 2010
I got an underage possession charge and I cant afford a lawyer, absolutely 100% cant afford him. The courts have the evidence to find me guilty so I might as well go ahead and plead guilty but I am currently doing a bunch of stuff to stop my alcoholism. At what point am I allowed to tell the judge about this?
Can someone please tell me if my essay sounds good?

I am applying to the Master’s in social Work program because my goal is to improve the lives and enhance the well being of individuals who are often discriminated, disadvantaged, and poor. I want to help others maximize their potential and steer their lives in a positive direction. I am particularly concerned about helping change the lives of our most vulnerable individuals, troubled and neglected youth. Therefore, I want to become a social worker to make a positive difference in their lives and empower these individuals to help them function more effectively with their problems.
I am a thirty four year old woman who struggled and overcame being homeless. When I was homeless, having an advocate and an mentor helped me connect with employment services. But first I needed someone to meet me where I was and treat me with dignity.
I had a mentor that taught and guided me with in my life. The impact that she had on my life inspired me to want to help others. I want to use the knowledge and understanding I have gained to assist people in changing their lives. I believe education is the key to being able to do that. Specifically, a Master’s degree in Social Work would put me in the greatest position for achieving my goal. A social worker on Skid Row in Los Angeles started me on a path toward healing my own life. She provided me with constant support and a sense of hope. Six months later, I found a job as a youth counselor at H.V. Group Home, a residential treatment facility, working with incarcerated youth who were mostly minorities. I am deeply concerned by the high incarceration rates in our society, specifically the way youth lead the way in going to jail, rather than being productive individuals in society. It is my sincere hope to contribute on how to best counsel and care for at risk youth. My research interest focuses on juveniles, especially those at risk spending their young adulthood behind bars.
In my job as a youth counselor, my primary work responsibility was to serve as a positive role model for adolescents aged twelve to eighteen. The residents encountered issues such as physical and sexual abuse and homelessness. Some of them had problems with drug and alcohol abuse, depression, and juvenile justice system. At times my job was extremely stressful. But I discovered that I had the ability to connect with the adolescents and develop strong emotional ties with them. I focused on several areas of treatment including their social skills, coping skills, and independent living skills. My main goal was to help them build their self-esteem and improve their sense of security.
The adolescents could become physically assaultive and self-harm themselves. It was during these critical situations that I would experience problems in knowing what to the best clinical approach was to use when a child was self-harming. I would like to have better tolls to help these kids when they are in crises and know whether the interventions work. I hope that with the aid of the Master’s degree in Social Work I can achieve that. I want to be able to help them in their time of crises and teach them the necessary skills the kids will need to transition into a more independent way of living. These youth need all the attention we can give them in order to prevent recidivism, especially African Americans and Hispanic males, who tend to continually come back into the system. If your program were to grant me the privilege of studying in your program, I would like to research the recidivism rates of African American and Hispanic juveniles and young adults. I hope to contribute to our understanding of how we can improve the quality of lives of these individuals.
In my life, I have set my own guiding principles. Although I can talk about my biggest principles. Inspiration can come in a multitude of forms, but mine comes in the form of service. As a career, I want to be a social worker, helping the poor, the hurt, and those whose lives have dealt them a bad hand. To me, gratitude would be enough to keep me going. I have always lived by the motto “do unto others as you would have done to you”, and feel that the best way to do this is by furthering the ideal of social justice in the way I live and work. Social justice, as I see it, is the value system that recognizes the inherent worth and dignity of every human being and the right of everyone to be treated fairly and with respect. I believe that every individual is worthy of dignity and respect and each individual has the ability to become self-sufficient and able to make the best possible decisions for themselves. When we as a society try to see the world through the eyes of the less fortunate, we can empathize with and understand one another instead of focusing on our differences. Only when each and every individual of a community is afforded the same level of dignity and respect can a society truly be called civilized. Those who cannot demand social justice for themselves must
How do I tell my parents that I want to go to rehab without them disowning me?
Posted by admin in Uncategorized on May 1, 2010
My father is a recovering alcoholic drug addict of 17 years. I have an older sister that has 2 children that my mother is raising because my sister abuses meth. I have an older brother who has had 2 DUIs before his 21st birthday && I have been following in their footsteps. It started when I was 14 with drinking then when I was 16 I began smoking marijuana. Now I smoke, drink, && do coke on a daily basis. I dont want to end up like my sister && brother, but I am afraid I will. I am being evicted from my apartment because of my habits && I have also neglected speeding tickets, && court ordered NA && Community Service. My life is heading the WRONG way && I desprately want to change it. I want my family to be proud of me. I come from a pretty wealthy family && I want to go to rehab, but I would need them to pay for it. My parents know I smoke weed, but they dont know about the coke && my driniing habits && I am afraid that they might disown me because coke was my fathers drug of choice too
I really really want to get myself back together again, but how do I convince my parents that I really DO want the help? They have sent my oldest sister to rehab several times with no luck. How do I say all of this to them without killing them inside?? I know I am babbling but I really want to help myself, I just dont want to tear my family apart…. What do I do?
My parents are unaware that I am being evicted && they also do not know that I already have 2 misdemeanors for posession of marijuana, so I will be dropping a huge bomb on them, I just dont know if they can handle another drug abusing kid…. I feel so horrible… Please any advice, I am looking to make myself better so please please serious answers only. Im not looking for your opinion on how I have lived my life, trust me, my own opinion of my life is much worse than yours.
If it makes any difference, I am 19 now. I moved out as soon as I turned 18 becaue I had a horrible relationship with my father && his new wife (who USED to be my babysitter & moms bestfriend till the affair was made public).
Why do other people feel its their place to tell me how to live my life?

The majority of people, through the power of the government, have decided they don’t want me to choose to do drugs if I want, prostitute, gamble if I wanted to.
I am a grown man, yet they intend to protect me from myself by taking away the liberty to choose for myself; and If I don’t like it, then I should leave America?
…America was formed on the philosophy of liberty. I have a right to choose, and if I choose wrong then I suffer the consequences… yet many American people believe their tax dollars should go to my arrest, conviction and incarceration for smoking marijuana. So it is not I ‘suffering’ any longer, it is all of America.
The cost to put a single drug dealer in jail is about $450,000, composed of the following: The cost for arrest and conviction is about $150,000. The cost for an additional prison bed is about $50,000 to $150,000, depending upon the jurisdiction. It costs about $30,000 per year to house a prisoner. With an average sentence of 5 years, that adds up to another $150,000. The same $450,000 can provide treatment or education for about 200 people. In addition, putting a person in prison produces about fifteen dollars in related welfare costs, for every dollar spent on incarceration. Every dollar spent on treatment and education saves about five dollars in related welfare costs.
Thats good money the government could instead use to educate people of the United States on the bad effects of drugs, so why not legalize drugs, put them on the open market, and stop the homicides and theft created by drug wars? Or was Nobel-prize winning economist, Milton Friedman wrong?
“The great virtue of a free market system is that it does not care what color people are; it does not care what their religion is; it only cares whether they can produce something you want to buy. It is the most effective system we have discovered to enable people who hate one another to deal with one another and help one another.” — Milton Friedman
“I’m in favor of legalizing drugs. According to my value system, if people want to kill themselves, they have every right to do so. Most of the harm that comes from drugs is because they are illegal.” — Milton Friedman
“If the government is to try and ban private consumption of alcohol and tobacco, it must surely ban such activities as hang-gliding, skiing, rock-climbing and so on. Where should it stop? Rugby? American Football? Ice Hockey? Insofar as the government has information not generally available about the merits or demerits of the items we ingest or the activities we engage in, let it give us the information. But let it leave us free to choose what chances we want to take with our own lives.” — Milton Friedman
Are these not the principles and philosophies of liberty that our nation was founded on?
latj, Liberty is always dangerous, but it is the safest thing we have
Yes, people will end up dead, but that is their choice, they are the owners of their lives, no one else
There are no violent gangs fighting over aspirin territories. There are no violent gangs fighting over whisky territories or computer territories or anything else that’s legal. There are only criminal gangs fighting over territories covering drugs, gambling, prostitution, and other victimless crimes. Making a non-violent activity a crime creates a black market, which attracts criminals and gangs, which turns what was once a relatively harmless activity affecting a small group of people into a widespread epidemic of drug use and gang warfare
I don’t want to live in a society without rules, I wan’t to live in a society without restrictions on how I should live my life. The government has one purpose; to protect the liberties of everyone from anyone else, not to protect ourselves from ourselves
I was arrested for DUI, and am soon to be sentenced 2-7 days. What do I tell my 2 teenaged sons?
Posted by admin in Uncategorized on April 26, 2010
I was arrested in February while still married. Our divorce is now done, and we have joint physical custody. I have entered an out-patient treatment program for alcoholism. My kids have never seen me drink in excess, and rarely saw me drink at all. Yet I admit I am an alcoholic, and my wife is addicted to prescription drugs (she’s still in denial). How much do I tell my kids when they jail me for 2-7 days (probably) and I lose my license for a year? I want to give them the truth, but how much? And should I tell them this week before court? Neither my ex nor my kids even know about the arrest or treatment yet. I am committed to quiting. What and how much do I say?
Husband called me tonight to tell me he was “in love” – violated R.O. – What should I do?
Posted by admin in Uncategorized on April 26, 2010
We have been seperated since July because of his alcoholism and violence. I have had a R.O. against him since early October (because he was obsessive, stalking, threatening, and tried to kill himself because he was so distraught over the fact that I wouldn’t take him back). He is forbidden by the courts from contacting me for any reason other than issues pertaining to our children – however, tonight, he called to tell me that he is dating “Frankie” and that he thinks he is in love with her. He was rude to me – like he was trying to make me mad. I even spoke to her briefly (she got on the phone to apologize for him calling me!!). He sounded drunk, and I’m not really sure why he called. My questions are: 1) Does he really think I would care what he is doing? I’m the one who has decided to divorce him. 2) What might he expect to gain from this conversation? 3) Should I call my attorney tomorrow and report that he called me & violated the R.O.? 4) Can men really be this dumb?

Prohibition does not prevent cannabis use by children or the mentally ill, the vulnerable populations whom we supposedly want to protect. Instead, cannabis prohibition makes it more difficult for parents, patients, society, doctors and law enforcement to control cannabis use.
The Drug War makes honest education about cannabis impossible, and leaves cannabis users marginalized in ways that make their lives more stressful.
This stress is unhealthy for everyone, but it is certainly most damaging to people with schizophrenia.
Cannabis prohibition is not merely a failure; it is a counterproductive fraud that is harming those whom we claim we want to protect.
There are currently more teens in treatment centers for marijuana in comparison to those admitted for alcohol.
Only an idiot would have to ask why alcohol is not the no#1 problem
after all alcohol is perfectly legal ( If you are 21.)
That is due to responsible people handling alcohol by way of the carding and id system.
Contraband markets make no age disgression.
Since the crackdown on tobacco there are 75% fewer teens trying or using tobacco.
However when it comes to cannabis and other illicit substances it’s a whole
other ball game.
Control, regulation and better education work prohibition, dose not.
Or as John Walters of the ondcp (Office for national drug control policy) calls it “ a war on drugs” (Sorry John but it’s true look at the Netherlands)
America loves a war even if it is on it’s own people.
One of several reason they don’t legalize drugs is not because of the harm of drugs,
But people would lose more money in the long run.
Some of the people behind the support of this irrational so called war are
The tobacco industry,
the alcohol and distilled spirit industry ( people simply don’t drink as much, or decide not to drink at all with cannabis meaning a decline in there sales.
The pharmaceutical corporations can not make money on whole or raw cannabis, but they can charge an arm and a leg for there synthetic Marinol (dronabinol) CIII.
The textile and paper industry would lose out from hemp production, sinse hemp dose not need to go through all the various processes that ordinary tree products would. Also it’s possible to get two harvest in one season.
However people don’t know the difference between industrial hemp and smokeable cannabis, yet they are able to distinguish between the two in other country’s like Germany, the UK , Netherlands and even Canada, but our `DEA agents are so dumb they cant tell the difference between a stalk and a bush.
Also people who have any knowledge of growing high quality cannabis will tell you that male plants should never be grown next to your high grade female plants,
(unless of course you want to pollinate for future seed production).
When it comes to farming hemp the males are left in tact to pollinate the females and produce as much seed as possible.
This would mean a seedy mess for the pot smoker to clean up and produce undesirable future generations of smokeable cannabis.
If anything, Hemp farming would be anti marijuana and would harm any outdoor pot farming within a one mile radius of any hemp farm.
The petroleum industry would also be affected, sinse almost everything that can be made from petroleum can be synthesized from hemp oil, everything from bio fuel to even plastics. If North America would use a third of it’s land for hemp production we could create enough bio fuel to supply an area the size of Canada.
Now also for a moment consider how many people are incarcerated over just cannabis who are currently in the prisons and jails.
If cannabis were legalized and all inmates serving time for cannabis were freed there would be an over abundance of empty cells, and millions of guards in this country would be no longer needed.
The prison building industry would almost be obsolete ( and if all drugs were legalized that would mean even more empty cells).
So the prison system must have some means of gaining more inmates.
Not to mention other areas such as treatment centers, probation.etc
or HIDTA high intensity drug traffic areas where money is fed in to law enforcement,
(they would miss there green $$$)
Drugs , not even alcohol are the cause of the fundamental ills of society, rather than checking people for the presence of drugs, they should first test people for stupidity, ignorance, greed and love of power.

Can someone please tell me how to find drug rehabilitation centers in Salamanca, New York?
Posted by admin in Uncategorized on February 6, 2010
I have a friend who died due to the adverse effects of heroin. For a time, I was just angry at drugs, angry at the people who were doing drugs. Don’t they know that they’re hurting their loved ones by doing that? But then I realized that my anger won’t do me any good at all. So now I have decided to help out. I would like to become an addiction counselor and I need to ask around at various rehabs about the requirement before I become one.
