Question by : Should there be stricter narcotics laws?
I say yes, because drugs like, lsd, crack, pot, heroin, etc. ruin the american family life and take away the lives of innocent youth when they are in their prime. They also hurt the economy because dealers get their money illegally.

Would it be better if there was stricter penalties for the use, distribution, and possession of narcotics?
There are unheard deaths everyday due to narcotics.

Whether it’s auto or health more people would die if narcotics were legalized.
I think police should beat anyone who uses, distributes, and possesses an illegal substance.

Best answer:

Answer by ThisGuy
No. If anything, they are too strict as it is. Billion’s of tax dollars are wasted keeping people locked up for small time charges. I’d rather you legalize it, regulate it, tax it and get rid of the crime aspect all together.

Question by Tiffany W: I’ve Been Summoned for a Credit Card Debt. Should I Hire a Lawyer or Is There Another Option?
I have a credit card bill for about 00 that has been closed and bought by a debt buyer (Portfolio Recovery Associates) and they have recently summoned me for a civil suit. From what I’ve read, I can’t have my wages garnished in NC for credit card debt unless they get another state to order the garnishment, but the lawsuit is in a NC court and VA (the state where Portfolio Recovery Associates is headquartered) doesn’t seem to allow it either. Also, some sources (credit lawyers’ websites) say that debt buyers don’t really do well in court because they don’t usually have the documentation that they need to prove the case. According to the lawyers, the debt buyers are hoping that I won’t show up and they’ll get a default judgment – assurance that I’ll have to pay and a 20-year extension on how long they have to collect. I have a few smaller past due accounts that I would also like to pay off, but I can’t afford to pay everyone at once, especially if i make large lump sum payments on any particular account. I don’t have much money and my husband and I are struggling to recover from unemployment issues from the past two years. Therefore, I want to make the best long-term financial decision without spending more money than necessary. Does anyone with experience in this situation have advice? Would hiring a lawyer be worth the money? Is there a way to get a free but legit legal consultation (maybe local government resources)?

Best answer:

Answer by Michael T
If the lawsuit is in NC, then they have to use that court system to garnish wages. You are correct that NC does not allow wage garnishment except for child support and taxes. However you are incorrect about VA which does allow wage garnishment for consumer debt.

http://www.bcsalliance.com/debt1_virginia.html

If they are filing a lawsuit in NC (which I believe is required since that is where the debt was acquired), then it is likely that they are trying to extend the statute of limitations or possibly garnish your bank accounts.

Per the divorce decree he has physical custody and she pays him child support. they divorced in 1999. the kids have lived w/her for a few years cause he had some issues for a while. but she never went back 2 court 2 change the order. now he pays her child support but he lost his job and hasn’t been able 2 pay the usual amount. he is still paying her but there is no court order and she is threating 2 go 2 child support recovery. I don’t believe she has the legal right 2 do that and if she did they would make her pay back child support. am i correct?

Best answer:

Answer by Elitist Snob
You shouldn’t do anything. This is between the ex-wife and your husband.

Question by wowsers: What should I do??? Any Advice would be GREAT!!?
Well I have a 9mnth old daughter and me and the father split up. way before she was even born. He doesnt make an effort at all to see her and I have given him plenty of oppurtunitys. He has cancelled on her half of the times we were suppose to meet. He is ordered to pay 0 in child support and has yet to pay even that. Which in my mind I think that is nothing considering I pay 165 a week in child care. insurance premium which is 96 plus copay , shots, clothes, and everything she needs!!! He has not even given me any money or offered to help buy anything for her. We dont have any court order visitiation in place because he has not legitimated the child. I have sole custody of her by law, being an unmarried mother. Only reason I have child support is because child support recovery requested his info since I had her on medicaid at the time and if I wanted my daughter to have health insurance I have to cooperate with them. I did and now he is order to pay cs. But I got a better job and cancelled med. and got her bcbs. Well in the scheme of things I met this wonderful loving guy who treats me with respect, who loves my daughter, not to mention I am really in love with this guy. After several months of dating he asked me to Marry him and proposed to me and asked if he could take me and my daughter. not just me ? I dont know what to do? I know what my heart wants for my daughter. I want her to have a dad who loves and cares about her like his own. Which in my mind I know for a fact he is serious about us. He has helped me out with her, financially , he is so great with her, and whenever we have a spend time together he always makes sure I am bringing my daughter with. He really truely loves her and Me. Since me and my daughter bio father have never been married and legally he is not on the birth certificate should I marry the man of my dreams, and would it be best or not for my daughter???
in fact we were never married to begin with

Best answer:

Answer by Lucille
The best thing you can do for your child is for her to have a loving father, the bio dad was just a sperm donor, it is clear he is not stepping up to the plate, he is a dead beat dad. Forget about him! If this new guy is willing to marry you and adopt your daughter, let him, he sounds like a man who is willing to take responsibility. I don’t even know why you’re asking this question, the answer is obvious!

Question by wowsers: What should I do?Visitation Questions?
I have a 5mth old baby girl. The father and I were never married. We do not have a visitation order in the court because he has not legally legitimated the child. But he is ordered to pay child support because child support recovery went after him since I was on Medicaid. He has not yet tried to push anything regarding visitation. We agreed to see each other every two weeks two times a week. I have tried to call him this week and he told me that his truck was in the shop, and then he would meet me tom. on fri. Yet he refuses to answer so know I dont know what he wants to do. I dont think he is going to show up. I also want to know if I should go to our local meetup spot anyways but I dont want to drag my baby out if he is just going to stand us up. He has canceled a few times. I have kept track when he cancels. But I am most concerned about him confusing her. He has said that he is going to take her from me because Its not fair for him to see her with me being there supervising. But I am not ever letting her out of my site without a court order. He has not even told his father that he has a baby and its not fair that she cant see all of her family, and when I met with him once he brought his mother along I could smell alcohol on her breath. I do not want to ever let my baby go with him since he has never cared for a child and he lives with his mother which I dont know if she will be drinking around my daughter. Please dont judge me. and I know this is alot going on. I just love my daughter so much and I cant imagine her being away from me. She is my life

Best answer:

Answer by r m
the men we pick for sperm donors, eh?

tell him that in future, he needs to contact you in advance and set up a time and place that suits you for visitation. you will wait no longer than 15 mins, and if he has not shown up during that time, you leave with your child.

at 5 months old, there is no reason for you not to be there during the visitation, incase your child needs feeding or care.

i woudl look into legal advice in your area – legal aid or maintenance court etc.

Question by ret340: How can I prove to the courts that my husband is an alcoholic & should have limited visitation?
I am about to file for divorce & NEED to prove my husband is an alcoholic & will put our 3-year-old’s safety at risk. I know most judges will rule the alcoholic can’t drive the child or have him overnight, but I have no proof that my husband is a drunk!
He drinks at his home & doesn’t drive much. He hides vodka in his laptop bag so he can drink at work, but hasn’t been caught yet. Strangely enough, he is a brilliant IT director & very respected!
I know for a fact that he drink around the clock because he has physical withdrawals if he goes without alcohol one day. He physically can’t avoid alcohol in order to have visitation since he gets violently ill, so I know he’ll drink while caring for my son (even if the jugde orders him not to).
Since he has no DUI offenses & hasn’t lost jobs due to driking, what else can I do to prove he is an alcoholic & that he will put our son’s safety in danger?
BTW, he has driven my son while drunk…I just don’t have evidence to show the court.
I’ve thought of calling the cops when he leaves here drunk, but I doubt they will locate him while he’s on the road. They’d have to respond within seconds to catch him driving away.
I’ve also considered hiring a private investigator to track him & get proof, but doubt I can afford it.
Wow, there are some very angry people attacking me! He wasn’t an alcoholic when I met him 10 years ago. The drinking has become a problem the last 2 years.
The reason I am divorcing him is so MY SON won’t have to suffer life with his alcoholic father in the home. I also can’t stop my husband from driving him while drunk!
How dare anyone say I’m the one who is hurting my child. Divorce is incredibly painful for all of us, but in the end I have to protect my child!

Question by Anj: What should I expect in court where my Ex has been charged with contempt for failing to pay his child support?
The ADA filed the charge against him. He owes our 3 children over four thousand dollars in back child support. He has changed jobs repeatedly each time making less money. He thinks that makes it alright for him to stop paying his support as ordered. He has also moved several hours away, and hasn’t kept one of his court ordered visitations in a year. I have done everything I could to accommodate him. I have brought the children to him every time they have seen him except for two. These visits are not regular visit. He only stays about fifteen minutes or so and then leaves. This time it’s been over two months since he has seen them. He even missed our youngest child’s birthday. The children feel like they don’t know him anymore, and that he doesn’t know them. He thinks nothing will happen to him when he goes to court. He also threatens me that if he goes to jail, he will never pay his child support again. It really is out of my hands. I filed the case with the state office of child support recovery (Ga.). It has been extremely hard for the children and I since he stopped paying his support. I desperately need some relief through this court proceeding, but I’m not sure what to expect. I appreciate any help, especially if you have been through some thing similar.

The thought of her drives me crazy for hours. When my husband tells me he wants us to go to her house I have to make a liquor store run first..She’s not good to my mind. Do I need phycological evaluation? Do you think i could benefit..I’m trying to get better so I can save my marriage
I only drink when I have to see her so I don’t jump on her.
She’s manipulative and controlling here are some details;

We used to live with her to help her pay her mortgage. I got fed up with her telling my husband everthing I did from me slamming the toilet seat too load to who I was talking to on the phone….I confronted her and told her that I didn’t appreciate her telling the world that i manipulate her son???(she was doing the manipulating) IF he wasn’t home she would harrass me to tell her where he was at!!(Like I was a dictator or something) We moved out the week I confronted her finally!! After that she had a diabetic problem and was hospitaqlized…telling the whole family it was my fault!! Lil’ did she know we were there as well because out babies had hand foor and mouth disease…I had to bring it to her attention becuase she claimed her son didn’t care..she turned red and saw how upset I was.
We have 2 kids together. She’s white and was not happy that my babies’ eyes were brown and not blue or green!!

justifiable and provable cause, be required to provide a security bond (cash or certificate), that they forfeit the next time they violate the orders?

With 60% of court ordered visitation violated within the first six months of the order, according to the U.S. Dept. of Health & Human Services study, “Survey of Absentee Parents”, and no government programs to enforce, this could be an effective way to address the issue. Unlike child support, visitation recovery stops when the child reaches 18. And, in today’s economy, judges can no longer automatically jail those who violate family court orders. States are releasing prisoners, without the need for probation reporting, in increasing numbers.

A bond can be in cash or through a bonding agency.
Ruth,
You really should read more of my answers before assuming I’m bias. I drop hammers on father who created their own problems, and I told mothers how to enforce orders. I tell fathers to wait until their children are grown before starting another family. Check my advice to women wanting to marry men with children, or visa versa,

My reference materials are available to anyone.

Finally, I want to make things harder for fathers, not easier, by promoting Bird Nest custody.

Best answer:

Answer by samworld
I think holding the custodial parent responsible for carrying out the court’s orders is a good thing. Right now the non-custodial parent has almost no rights if the custodial parent decides to deny visitation. My husband had to go through this with his son’s mother. She would change her mind about letting him see his son, not be at the prearranged meeting places, lie about what times they would be home to pick up my stepson. And every time we called the Police Dept. they said to call the Sheriff’s Dept, who said to call the Attorney General’s office, who pretty much said sucks to be you. Sure there are a lot of people who are neglecting their duties as parents, but there are a lot of parents who are basically at the mercy of the custodial parent’s whims. We had to go to court again and have it added to the custody agreement that we could pick him up from school just to avoid dealing with a mother who should be happy that her son’s father wanted to see him as much as possible. Instead she did everything in her power to make us and her own son miserable. Who’s looking out for the parents trying to do the right thing who are getting shafted? Nobody.

CONYERS — Filling out an application is not enough anymore. Business owners within the city of Conyers must now confirm they are in the country legally before they can run a business.

Local government agencies were recently called to verify citizenship and immigration status of business owners through the Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements, or SAVE, program of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.

The Conyers City Council voted Jan. 20 to enter into an agreement with the federal agencies though Conyers city attorney Michael Waldrop noted they did not have much choice.

“The Georgia Legislature has required that cities and counties participate in the SAVE program to verify the legality of those who do business and receive benefits from the city,” Waldrop told the council members.

Councilman Marty Jones voiced concerns that paying for notary services every year, in addition to getting a business license, would be inconvenient “on the operations side.”

“People who write the regulations don’t have to live by them,” Jones said.

The new requirement will affect the roughly 1,800 businesses in Conyers.

“Unless you have a notary in your office, the proprietor is going to have to go somewhere — whether it’s the city, the bank, the post office, somewhere — to get someone to notarize this document (affidavit), swearing that he is, in fact, a legal citizen or here legally, whatever the status may be,” Waldrop said.

The new requirement will affect those applying for retirement benefits, health benefits, contracts, alcoholic beverage licenses, occupation tax certificates, taxi cab licenses, insurance company licenses, pawn brokers licenses, massage therapists licenses, billiard room operations licenses, precious metals and gems dealers licenses, conducting flea market licenses and peddlers and itinerant trades licenses, according to the city documents.

I’m 17 and I’ve been through a lot this past year, being in a mental hospital for 6 weeks for things in my past that are being acknowledged now. I’m going to get my second tattoo when I decide where I want it.

My first tattoo says ‘Alis Volat Propriis’ which means she flies with her own wings, going down my left arm

http://i199.photobucket.com/albums/aa276/renzy19/tattttoo.jpg

This tattoo means a lot to me because I cut this into the same arm at my lowest point, before a suicide attempt. To me that tattoo represents independence and how only I can make myself better.

My next tattoo I want to get is to represent my past and moving forward. I want Bansky’s Girl & balloon with a quote from thriving ivory’s “Hey Lady” “Don’t give up on me, don’t burn your heart out love

This tattoo, to me represents losing the ability to love at a weak point in your life, which I lost the ability to love myself, and you know how the saying goes “You can’t love someone else, until you love yourself.” I believe from may until two weeks ago was my weakest point. And the girl is reaching out for it, which for me symbolizes my treatment, and me trying to make myself better, and gaining control of my life again. It also symbolizes loss of innocence, which relates to me because I was raped when I was 12, grew up with an abusive stepfather with a neglectful mother, I was quite promiscuous growing up, and abused numerous drugs and alcohol. It also symbolizes growing up, which I never planned on doing, considering I made a suicide pact with myself when I was 12 that I would kill myself by 18. Now I’m ready to try. I think it symbolizes letting go too, I need to let go of my past in order to live a full and happy life. The quote also means a lot to me, I found Thriving Ivory a couple days before every thing started happening, and Hey Lady represent my teacher who’s been supporting me from Day 1 of all this.

So my question is where should I get this tattooed? I’m leaning towards my chest, I want it somewhere visible, any suggestions?
Here’s a picture of me if it helps

http://i199.photobucket.com/albums/aa276/renzy19/untitled.jpg

Thank you in advance (:
Thank you guys. (:

I can’t really do feet, although I like the idea, because of the quote :/ I want it somewhere so the world can basically see where I’ve been, and where I’m going.

I dont care what you think about marijuana and what it is…
I’m asking if you believe it should be legalized to help out with our deficit. Men lie, numbers dont:

1. 17 billion a year for the Office of National Drug Control Policy

2. 20,000 a year per inmate for keeping non violent criminals in prison

3. 1.7 million people in jail 22 to 33% of these are for marijuana sales

4 11.3% percent of students tried marijuana before age 13

Legalized it would be much more in the sense of alcohol, even though its not as dangerous as alcohol.

The Hemp grown from the stalk could be used for so many different things what people dont know is that big corporations dont want marijuana legalized because then Hemp would be legal and alot of people would go out of business. But so many more good things would happen fo the people of America
I just learned Henry Fords first Model-T ran on hemp gasoline. with our more sophisticated science we cant do it again?
And marijuana grows fast we would be off oil uh oh just put the oil companys out of business

1 acre of marijuana is equal to 4.1 acres of trees for making paper uh oh just put logging industries in the hole
i dont smoke weed i’m an American for real and i care about my country.
I will conclude with this, it is said, by officials in our government that there has been no official marijuana studies when in fact there has it seems that it will take at least 3 more generations to get over the barriers that the government has created in effects to marijuana. I know people who have smoked for 20+ years and all the things that i hear bad about it are untrue.

Whereas the real danger lies in the actual smoke inhalation not the plant. If you inhale any form of smoke you will kill braincells and the government used that to say marijuana kills brain cells when the truth is THC is the only chemical found in a plant that our brain has a receptor for. Our brain sends other chemicals to these same receptors but the use is still unknown.
Thank you all for answering and being logical.
