Question by darksteve: Is It unethical for a court ordered drug test to only use the instant dipstick test, and not send it for GC/MS
Im on random drug screens, and I havnt smoked in 32 days but I have failed two drug tests. They use the instant dipstick urine analysis but do not send it to the lab (i pour it out after they test it). Then after failing the second test they tell me i need to re fill out their forms giving them a newer date of use. but I havnt used! So I have to pay an additional dollars to have it lab tested, to find out what I already know. I have been a consistant every day heavy smoker for 3 years, and they just assume that after 4 weeks I should be clean or atleast near the cutoff date. This is court ordered and in the past, as a juvenile, (6 years ago) They lab tested every sample but now that doesnt seem to matter to them. The first test was 21 days clean, the second was 32 days clean. im afraid in 2 weeks when I get tested if I fail I will have to pay another for nothing. do I have a case to argue and possibly get my $$ back from my probation officer?
well that makes a lot of sense, I do pay for the test already and they could make me get a lab confirmation and pay for that too. And i’m not paying to contest the fact, and saying its a false positive. Its positive because the metabolites are still in my system. Everybody’s body is different, to say 30 days is the average is rediculous. Thanks for the responses!!
Its the fact that i have to pay extra money, or fill out a form stating I used since my last date, which would be a lie. I guess im more worried about my PO not understanding my situation, I guess my best bet would be to pay the dollars everytime atleast then he will see the levels are dropping. no thanks to that first answer, wh*r* up the points you troll.

If you stop smoking dope, you won’t fail the tests.

Is it appropriate to send Court Judge a letter regarding his decisions?

Question by mamaghost2001: Is it appropriate to send Court Judge a letter regarding his decisions?
Judge wants to send my teen with Conduct disorder to Residential treatment center 300 miles away from my home. He plans on his decision next month. I found a Residential center that my insurance will pay 100%, and 38 miles away. Would it be appropriate to send Judge a letter informing him that I’ve decided to place her in a different RTC than what he may order? My child is in serious need of treatment, and her placement could occur 5 days before his decision. I’m not wanting to step on his toes per say, but his idea of RTC will not allow for my participation in her recovery due to distance. I’m putting in urgent calls to her probation officer, and she’s not returning my calls. But in court she tells the Judge that my child is high on her list. But she’s not high enough when I place urgent callls for her to return my call. I’m not indigent, and I don’t need the state to pay for the mental health of my child. What should I do? Am I wrong for overstepping his choice?

If he is 300 miles away the lesson will be lurned better. I think the point is he is sending him far away for he doesn’t always get mom comfort. He has to learn has to exsept consiquenses

Would you offer to send money to a family member when….?
Posted by admin in Uncategorized on July 11, 2010
This is the situation?
There are several family members who have died from alcoholism. 2 died many years ago the exact same way- their esophagus burst and bled out because their liver had failed from heavy drinking (when the liver fails it can put pressure on the esophagus, causing it to burst).
Despite this, several family members continued to drink. Then 2 years ago another one died from liver failure from drinking.
Now another one is experiencing the same esophageal bleeds that 2 other members died from. He has two children- one who is married with three kids and is in her 30′s. His son is in his mid 20′s and has been attending college since 2005.
We have been asked to help the son (who is a cousin) with paying for college because his Dad (the one who is now experiencing esophageal bleeding from heavy drinking) could not pay.
His Dad is such a bad alcoholic that he has been on disability for years. He has been in prison for drugs years ago. Despite being on disability, he has been given a place to live by his sister (he pays rent with his disability money). He has never been forced to go to rehab and has spent his disability money on alcohol for years.
His sister claims that you cannot make a person quit drinking and that they have tried to make him stop. Yet she has given him a place to live and ignored the fact that he spent his disability money on alcohol.
Now we are being told that his son, who is in his mid 20′s and still in college needs money to help pay for school. Apparently his Dad gave him some of his disability money (but spent a good portion of the rest of it on alcohol), but now that he has got astronomical medical bills as a result of his drinking, he cannot give his son any money for school.
It is not clear whether the son who is in college drinks, but I think he does.
Is it our responsibility as his cousins to send money to help pay for his schooling? We have a 4 year old and a 6 month old. The 6 month old has health problems that are not covered fully by insurance. We have some financial strains ourself but are not expecting other family members to help us out financially.
What do you think?
Thank you for all of your answers- the family member who ‘hints’ at the need for $$$ to ‘clean up the mess’ of this irresponsible alcoholic is a narcissitic manipulator. She wants the glory of ‘saving’ him, but puts him as well as other family members in extreme codependency on her. She tells everyone she is ‘helping’ them but the only ‘help’ she is providing is learned helplessness with extreme dependence on her. This is more disturbing than the ‘hinting’ (she is never direct and is emotionally punishing if you don’t do things her way) for money…it is SICK.
Should we send Drug Abusers to Rehab or Prison?
Posted by admin in Uncategorized on July 2, 2010
$40000 vs $7000 per person per year. It cost a estimated 40 billion a year to keep non violent drug abusers in prison.
it seems like if you really wanted to be conservative this is one of the first places you would cut cost.
The way we fight the war on drugs does not work
