I had a car accident recently, police didn’t showed up.I’m taking this person to small claims court.?

Question by Jess: I had a car accident recently, police didn’t showed up.I’m taking this person to small claims court.?
The person who hit my car, didn’t have a Drivers license and showed me an expired insurance policy. I called the cops twice and they didn’t want to come over, claiming that was not necessary since she was willing to exchange info. INFO? with no ID, a made up phone number, and a lot of nerve to be driving reckless. My insurance does not cover uninsured motorist so is being a pain in the butt. I want to take this person to small claims and only have her address from that 2005 insurance policy she showed me. The claim adjuster said that the car is register under that name the policy said. I need some help about the steps to take and paperwork I need in order to continue in the recovery of the damaged in my car is worth. Almost G’s Besides I wanna make sure people like her get their lesson. Why do they drive without insurance and reckless. They are just go out there destroying other people property. This has to stop! NO DL, NO VALID INSURANCE COVERAGE, SHOULD NOT BE DRIVING! One more detail…I sent a letter requesting payment, to the address I got from the expired insurance policy. Found out that is still sitting at the post office, USPS said they left a notice on the 13th and still haven’t pick up. What should I do? Im to the point that I wanna take this woman down, but the right way!!!!
One more thing spoke with a coupleof attorneys and they basically said that there was nothing for them on that case since the woman most likely be ilegal and because I was uninsured againts “UNINSURED DRIVERS”

Why is it that police officers have the highest rate of alcoholism, spousal abuse, suicide, and divorce?

Question by : Why is it that police officers have the highest rate of alcoholism, spousal abuse, suicide, and divorce?
I am considering pursuing a career in law enforcement but after having done a little bit of research and talking to a couple of police officers it seems that law enforcement personnel are plagued with alcoholism, spousal abuse, suicide, and divorce. Supposedly their rates for these four categories are higher than the national average. What can explain for these trends and how stressful and fun is a career in law enforcement.. (I would preferably like responses from current or former police officers but anyone is welcome to answer. Please state whether you are involved in law enforcement)

Best answer:

Answer by Bruce
I have not seen a single statistic to support your claims of alcoholism and abuse. If you have one, please post it.

I have seen a statistic on divorce that puts police at 60%. This may seem high, but the average for the entire US is 55%, so it is only slightly higher. You can probably account the extra 5% simply to working holidays, weekends, and lots of overtime.

Suicide has always been high in the police profession due to the stress, long hours, shift work, high expectations, and the fact they see the worst of society on a daily basis.

When a restaurant records your ID in a paper log, when you order alcohol, is this shared with the police?

Question by Touch Blueprints: When a restaurant records your ID in a paper log, when you order alcohol, is this shared with the police?
I mean, immediately, and with other states- assuming a judge in another state has ordered you to have “no consumption of alcohol”? I’m referring to the paper on which they take down your driver’s license #, and ask you to sign? Like a sports bar.
Just hypothetically (I’m in a criminal justice class, where I need to know, right now).

Answer by steve.sicard
i dont know what bar your going to that documents everyone who walks in the door but no they cannot reveal personal information unless a court order is executed to investigate your personal records, including bar records i guess. never heard of a bar doing that though.

Police Officers, Law Enforcement….I need your help?

My husband has been addicted to vicodin from a back injury which is long gone by now. He has now moved on to oxycontin and I’ve recently found out that he’s injecting it. He has deleted all of our funds, we are financially ruined because of this. I have tried to get him into rehab but he loves doing the drugs and has no intention on stopping. He also is driving without a drivers license, has a warrant out for unpaid court ordered child support and drives under the influence, obviously. I want to leave him but he always takes the vehicle and leaves me alone and I have no family here to help me. I want to get away but he’ll never let me leave. If he were making a drug deal and I tipped off an officer where he was while buying drugs to arrest him I could have a chance to leave with him in jail. How long would he be in custody if nobody had the funds to bail him out? Is this wrong of me? I think it might be the only way to save his live..and maybe mine. I’m scared and need help.
All of the drugs he buys are illegally bought. He has no prescriptions, his doctor had released him because of his addiction. He is bipolar and is becoming borderline violent, very verbally abusive. I see no hope and do not want to go to some shelter. I can get out on my own with the help of my family but I need him gone. I’m trying to figure out a way to help me and to help him. Maybe an arrest would scare him into sobriety, regardless, our marriage is over. Thank you for all responses.

Police Officers have the highest rate of alcoholism but firmly believe pot is horrible your response police?

Police Officers are among the highest regarding professions and alcoholism. The police will preach to the citizens how bad pot is and firmly believe this in their head but once their shift ends they just go home and drink. Of course im speaking in general not all cops drink but the majority of them do and they drink heavily maybe because of the nature of their job but regardless a lot of police drink like fish. Then they drive carelessly because they think their above the law… If I had a nickel for every story I heard involving a drunken cop hitting something then just getting away with it Scott free. Even though it’s your job what makes you police officers so passionately believe pot is a horrible thing and is not to be taken lightly? They say weed is a “gateway drug” that statement in itself says pot is harmless but it could potentially lead to more dangerous things. Were looking at one thing here specifically and that’s “pot” don’t try and bring a bigger picture into this… the statement its a “gateway drug” in my mind is acknowledge meant that the drug in itself is not that harmful but rather you’ll take a bigger picture approach and speak in generalities to avoid that actual question. This is for all you police who so firmly believe pot is a horrible thing… takes a look at your alcoholic brothers in blue who drive while drunk and have no regard for the law. The government’s job is to make sure society is safe… what’s more dangerous to society a drunk or a pothead honestly cops what’s more dangerous? The person sitting home doing nothing or the person who’s drunk not in control of their actions? The government makes so much money off keeping pot illegal with all the fines and the non violent offenders filling up our prison systems making the tax payers pay for their shelter. I just am appalled by the cops who speak about pot as if it’s so dangerous when they know its not. We do not have room in our prisons to keep housing non violent offenders nor do the tax payers want to continue to pay for those people. Prisons are crowed and there’s a simple solution that we won’t use because our government makes an unbelievable amount of money off keeping weed illegal and then they feed their drones (cops) a bunch of nonsense on no tolerance… no discretion if you see someone with weed you must take them in as if they are some threat to society… more like you must take them in so we can collect and make bank off this. Some cop initiatives make no sense… cops should have discretion to make a curb side adjustment with it comes to misdemeanors with no threat of violence… But that wouldn’t make as much money which is what everything comes down to… welcome to the USA
Are you kidding me? Try gooing police an high rates of alcoholism you must be an idiot to not think cops have drinking problems. My premise is correct my friend you must be in denial and not know how to use google. Before you attack someones premise how about you actually do some research moron.
Im a senior crim justice major by the way… we learned in class which can be supported by an google search cops are among the highest in alcohol abuse and the highest in divorce rates… i just love the cop that said my premise is illogical clearly a moron who knows nothing about his own profession.
Your all using non factual evidence to try and bash weed. Give me empirical evidence that can be proven oh wait there is none…. How about I start spitting out the thousands of factual things that can happen when becoming an alcoholic. Alcohol is worse the weed by 10 fold no theres getting around it. Theres not even any conclusive studies saying what weed can and can’t do to you. The only thing we know is that if you smoke you can be a 6 time Olympian named Michael Phelps yea pots really held him back.

If someone in your home wont go to rehab willingly Ccould the police remove them from the home?

One of my parents has been in & out of rehab programs but refuses to finish them. The family has stood by this person but patience is wearing thin. I’m starting to think that there might be no hope. But this person is hurting the family with their addiction & I think they need to leave. I’m afraid it will turn violent. This person has hit my dog, who could be next. I wanted to know if the police could take this person away from the house with a court order or something.

I want the police to arrest my son who is a drug addict, and offer him mandatory rehab or jail. How to do it??

The drugs/alcohol are out of control. He drives/drunk or high and avoids getting caught. He dissappears for days. He never pays taxes. He uses the Emergency Room as a doctors office and never pays the bill. He refuses drug treatment voluntarily. I am at the end of my rope. I want to see him stopped, but not go to jail. I want to see him court ordered into an inpatient rehab center, where he can get some help. How can I alert the authorities, so they can find him drunk driving or in posession of drugs, and know that the judge will NOT put him in jail, but order mandatory rehab?? I’ll even pay for the rehab if it isn’t too expensive. But, I need the court order to make sure he stays for the entire period. If he doesn’t, then the judge can throw him in jail. Who do I contact at the state, county or township level to ASK for the Rehab sentence ahead of time??
My son is 25 y/o.
