What can I do if my ex refuses to abide by the visitation order?
Posted by admin in Uncategorized on June 26, 2010
My ex has custody of my son, in the court order it states I have visitation for half of the summer vacation period. She is fighting me and refusing to let me have him for more than 16 days. Just before I get asked, there are no drugs, no alcoholism, history of violence, nothing as a safety issue, he has proper accommodations here as well. I just dont have the money to take her to court to enforce it, and by the time i could go to court, I would be unable to care for him due to my schedule.

Violation Of Custody Court Order?

My ex and I have a five year old together. He sued me in court for visitation rights two years ago. The courts granted him every other weekend. He stopped coming to get her after coming twice. When he would get her, he would take her to his mother’s house and my daughter wouldn’t see him until it was time for him to bring her home. To make a long story short. He went back to jail last year for one year, for possession of a hand gun. He came home and I received a letter in the mail stating that he is suing me in court for violated a court order. What should I do? I do not want him seeing my daughter because he has never stayed out of prison for one year since his 18th B-day. He always get high and he even was in an out-patient drug rehab while he was able to see my daughter. We live in the State of Pennsylvania and we were never married.
Should American courts be able to order people into a “faith based” program?
Posted by admin in Uncategorized on April 26, 2010
AA (Alcoholics Anonymous) is a spiritually based treatment program. It requires acknowledgement of a “higher power” however you concieve it to be. But, it requires that acknowledgement…
Do you believe it is fair for the court system to mandate a treatment program that is faith based?
Should a secular treatment program be mandated instead, for those in need of treatment who are not religious or spiritual??

I’m not against mandated treatment, but I am against mandated religion.

A court order to put my mother in rehab?
Posted by admin in Uncategorized on April 26, 2010
My mother is an alcoholic and it has gotten to a point where I can’t take it anymore. I live with my maternal grandmother, my younger brother, and my mother. My father has no rights, and cannot be contacted. I understand I am 14 and have no rights but there is extinguinating [sorry! can't spell the word!] circumstances. I just need to know if there is a way for me to force her into rehab? I really need this because I really need a mother!
Circumstances: She got into a car accident last year and had my younger brother in the car with her. No one got seriously injured and the cop didn’t ask for a breathalyzer [I am grateful] but it still made me realize how bad her drinking is and made me on a crusade to help her, even if it means forcing her. She got drunk on my Homecoming night so I couldn’t ask her to help me get ready or anything, and that hurt really bad. [:'(]
That is only the tip of the iceberg, and I really want to help her but I’ve almost given up. I don’t want to give up on my mom because I know she’s doing the best she can with everything but she’s not helping herself by drinking. I thought maybe I could give it one last shot and place her in rehab and the only way I can think of besides asking [which I've done, many, many times] is by a court order, forcing her into it.
Please and thanks! ♥
I’ve told everyone I could. With her old therapist she was ordered to go to 90 AA meetings in 90 days, and she just got drunk after every single one.
I live in Virginia.
My mother drinks and drives, she not only endangers herself, but me and my brother and whomever she decides to drive with. I love my mother dearly, but it’s gotten to the point where I can’t take it anymore. I’ve tried telling anyone who will listen, including adults, but no one does anything. All they do is listen and they don’t take any action.

would you force (court order ) your child under 21 with a heroin/crack problem into rehab ?
Posted by admin in Uncategorized on April 26, 2010
First off i know you cant make a person want to quit or get help .But there has to be a limit to where as a parent we wanna prevent our children from hitting that rock bottom .i seen a man on a show today say he wont have his 19 year old crackheroinn addicted daughter committedd because it would hurt him and sh would be mad at him. Screw that for me not EVERYONE if the child is that you legal age or not im gonna let them hate me and do what has to be done.what would you do ? Not saying one way is wrong verses another way .
Just a side note a person over 18 can legally placed in rehab by a parent spouse or family member if the person is declared incompatent or a harm to them selves or others or if in the majority of cases there is an underling of self medicating for something like a Dual diagnosis occurs when someone has both a mental disorder and an alcohol or drug problem.
SK its easier to get drugs in prison than on the streets its more profitable..
When there is no court order for visitation – do you have to let him?
Posted by admin in Uncategorized on February 9, 2010
We do not have a court order for visitation or child support – I have just been letting him come over and see our 4 mos old twin girls at my house. He has a drug issue and I will not allow him to take the babies until he at least attempts a drug rehab program. I know he has taken his boys (from his own lips) with him when he picks up his drugs. He shared this before the babies were an issue – so do I have to allow him to see them? or can I hold out until he has the you know whats to go to court? and can he get unsupervised visits if I can prove he is a crack addict to the judge?
Upon receiving the first 17 answers I have phoned an attorney and booked myself on Jerry Springer to pay for the attorney – thanks to the “man” for 2 cents- he only builds my case against them.

Should state medical licensing boards and the courts be allowed to order mandatory AA/NA participation?

Should state medical licensing boards and the courts be allowed to order mandatory AA/NA participation?
I was an RN who self-reported a substance abuse problem to the NC board of nursing. One of the requirements is that the nurse not just attend meetings, but do all the “stuff” that the 12 steps require. With the main requirement that you profess to the group a belief in a “Higher Power”. Evidence of your participation and attitude have to be documented by your “sponsor” and submitted monthly to the NC Board of Nursing. Well, I believe that AA is inherently religious, and that this requirement violates the 2nd amendment. There were several Rn’s who were atheists and understandingly objected to the higher power nonsense, since by their nature as atheists they of course do not believe in a higher power. But the Board would not lift the requirement for them. I’m Christian, but I believe AA/NA are religious cults and my religion teaches against praying in groups outside of church services.
Sorry this is so long, but I’m dying to hear everyone’s opinion.
typo: “understandably”, not “understandingly”.
mnwomen:
As a matter of fact when I received my nursing license the subject of Board disciplining programs wasn’t in the by-laws. No one knows what their particular disciplinary actions will be until aech case is reviewed. But when I went to nursing school I didn’t plan to become addicted to drugs, so there was no reason to go before the board and say: “BTW when and if I get on drugs what is the board’s discipline policy”?
As far as the judicial system is concerned most people who drive impaired know what the consequences are before they do it, but that still does not give the government the right to violate the constitution as part of the punsihment.
Read the 2nd amendment.
Rosen: You’re definately in the minority amoung your colleagues I’m sure.
The NCBON wouldn’t hear of giving an option to choose behavioral therapy like R. Recovery, Lifering, etc. It’s so damn frustrating because I don’t think there are any hard studies that support AA’s claim that they have a “97%” recovery rate. Unfortunately the majority of SA IOP programs are run by step-nazis, at least here in Charlotte.
can a family law judge order drug testing without a prior drug offense on record?

Children services have been called because an 11 year old is in the household. But this person is using drugs and refuses to get help. I think she’s bipolar but I don’t have the money to pay for rehab so I figured is there any way to get a court order for a state funded rehab program.
PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!! What does is take for the courts to order a drug addict into rehab?

I have an uncle who is addicted to cocaine, but has no desire so seek help. We have tried to help him, but he thinks his whole family hates him and is just out to get him. He has never been arrested for it, but if he did, how many times would he have to actually go to jail before the system sees fit to order him into rehab? Will they do it after the first offense? I don’t think he sells, I just think he is buying it for himself.
He lives at my grandma’s and has the blinders pulled over her eyes. She doesn’t see the problem, but in two years he cannot get a job. He keeps lying and making up excuses about why he can’t get work. He is sucking my grandma dry of all finances and she is even pawning everything she owns jUSt to give him money so he can “go find another job.”
Please help!!! Has anyone ever been through this and how can we help him?????
No one in our family is able to pay for him to go into rehab, that is why I want to know how the courts can help us out.
