This answer won’t get best answer, and I mean this with care, but….

As far as I know, all of the “homemade” remedies for detoxing are wives’ tales and don’t work. I’m sure you’ll have some answers that give them to you anyway. For the sake of staying out of the judicial system–I hope you find one that works.

I would think, however, that if you are broke, the best detox solution is to not buy any “smokes”. Problem solved.

Do European countries like France and Italy have higher rates of alcoholism?

Question by Arthur S: Do European countries like France and Italy have higher rates of alcoholism?
In countries in Europe where drinking laws and social rules are more relaxed when it comes to drinking is their a higher rate of alcoholism? Or is it the same or less than the United States?

Best answer:

Answer by purplepeace59
In France where people start drinking wine with their meals from early childhood their is less alcoholism or problem drinking. Germany with it’s wonderfull beer festivals has less of a drinking culture and not so many alcoholics. The country I am comparing France and Germany to is Britain, where I live. We have recently changed our drinking laws by having longer opening hours in pubs. It was hoped it would reduce problems caused by drinking and we would have the same culture as continental Europe. However, this hasn’t happened in the year since the law was changed. Our drinking problems have just got worse. It seems to be a problem with the British mentality towards alcohol.

What do you think? Answer below!

Is it wrong to do cocaine with your sister-in-law when you worship your brother and want to be like him?

Question by Jake Sully: Is it wrong to do cocaine with your sister-in-law when you worship your brother and want to be like him?
My sister-in-law wants to do cocaine. I want to join the Navy, and i understand no drugs are allowed. But she wants to do cocaine, and i said i would, but i want to be like my brother and be real. Is it ok for me to want to do cocaine with her?

Best answer:

Answer by C O R R U P T
Would be great for a Jerry Springer episode. Cocaine is highly addictive and could ruin your future with both the military and your family. Your brother is gonna give you a beat down after you get his wife pregnant and it turns out to be a crack baby.

What will it be like to work as a pool attendant in an upscale country club?

The job does not require life guarding duties. My only responsibilities would include serving members bottled alcoholic drinks and getting towels. The rest of the time we get to chill underneath a big umbrella with a fan. I was warned occasionally there might be a rude person with a sense of entitlement. Will this be a pretty laid back, fun summer job or could it have hidden implications?

Does this sound like it would work?

Tea Tree Oil can be used as a highly effective douche treatment against yeast infections. It is recommended that you purchase a small dropper bottle that can be used to store the solution.

* Combine 1 teaspoon of Tea Tree Oil with 1 teaspoon of isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol).
* Mix the solution, which should appear milky white.
* Store the solution in the dropper bottle.
* Add 10 drops of the solution to a pint of water.
* Use this douche once a day for a week in order to rinse the vagina.

Why don’t more people like the idea of ending DRUG PROHIBITION? Alchohol prohibition was a disaster!……

Prohibition only creates crime and related social harms. This was the case in the 1920s with alcohol, and it is the case now with currently illegal drugs. It does not matter if you are for or against people using drugs. Prohibition does NOT WORK, and it costs far too much to continue.

I never really thought it through when I was younger. It was very simple to me: Drugs are bad, therefore they should be illegal. That was all of the thought I put into it, because I did not think beyond the propaganda that I heard every day in school. I did not think about all of the problems that prohibition causes (even though I had studied prohibition at one point), and I think that most people are pretty much brainwashed by the same propaganda, so most of us don’t bother to think about the negative impact that the “WAR ON DRUGS” has on our society.

If you do not think we should change the laws, then you support drug UNcontrol. Prohibition means NO regulation, and NO control because drugs are pushed underground into criminality. Prohibition does not stop people from making, selling, buying or using drugs. All it does is make drugs impossible to control. The most optimistic reports show that we only interdict 10-15% of drug traffic. That means that prohibition is 85% to 90% ineffective. That also means that we have NO control over recreational substances.

It does not matter if you are for or against drug use. Prohibition is an abject failure. If we put a stop to this irresponsible and detrimental “WAR”, our country could experience a huge DECREASE in:

-Crime (Crime is higher as a result of the war on drugs. In particular, homicides have skyrocketed – 10 per 100,000 – the only other time the homicide rate was so high was during alcohol prohibition. After prohibition, the murder rates dropped by more than HALF)

-Disease,

-Government Spending (A RAND corporation study showed that each dollar spent on education and treatment is 7 times more effective than a dollar spent on criminal interdiction, yet we spend more than 45 BILLION DOLLARS per year on criminal interdiction and incarceration costs, and less than 4 billion dollars on education, treatment, and prevention.
),

-Prison Population (According to the American Corrections Association, the average daily cost per state prison inmate per day in the US in 2005 was $67.55. That means it costs states approximately $16,948,295 per day to imprison drug offenders, or $6,186,127,675 per year),

http://www.drugwarfacts.org/prison.htm

-Gangs and Organized Crime (gangs are a product of drug prohibition),

-Corrupt Police (Who wants to live in a police state?),

-Drug Trafficking (obvious reasons),

-Drugs Use among Teens (Drug use INCREASED 7 fold among 12-17 year olds after the modern War on Drugs started. The economics of prohibition favors the targeting of youths. Drug dealers don’t ask for ID),

-Graffiti (Gang tagging creates an enormous graffiti problem causing millions of dollars in damage every year. The gangs are a product of drug prohibition)

-Deaths due to overdose,

-car accidents caused by high speed chases (Where a driver is afraid of being caught with illegal drugs),

-divorce rate (parents would not be separated from the family due to petty possession convictions),

-GUN CONTROL – we have increasingly strict gun control laws because the crime wave that rides on prohibition has caused huge public outcry. Rather than focus on the cause of crime (socioeconomic factors of the drug war are a major component), the public and legislators lash out at gun owners. This would practically REMOVE the government’s pretext to ban guns!

Since Nixon started the modern war on drugs, use among teens is up 7 times. This is because the black market created by prohibition makes underage teens a very easy target. The result is that illegal drugs run rampant through every high school in America. But alcohol, as a legal drug, is much harder for a minor to obtain.

We must remove the profit incentive in the black market for recreational substances – the only way to do that is to end prohibition and replace it with regulation. Congress is granted the power to “regulate commerce”. “Regulate”, to the writers of the Constitution, meant to facilitate the proper functioning of, as when someone regulates a clock to keep proper time, or the barrels of a double rifle to hit the same point of aim

The Rand corporation’s study showed that every dollar spent on education or treatment programs is 7 times more effective that a dollar spent on criminal interdictions. If recreational substances were made available through a regulated and taxed means, just like alcohol, we could focus far more money on education and treatment and as a result, lower drug use and provide for a healthier society. The resultant reduction in crime will provide safer streets for police and citizens, and allow the police to concentrate on real crimes, such as violent crimes. This was one of the rationales behind the repeal of Alcohol Prohibition, and it is still a good idea.

In Holland where both Marijuana and Heroin are legally available, they have HALF the percentage of Marijuana users as in the US, and a THIRD the percentage of heroin users. If heroin were legal tomorrow would you shoot up? No, neither would I. The people that would use heroin already use it, and obtain it through the black market. Available through regulated channels, it would simply end the crime ridden black markets, and promote a healthy environment free of HIV, AIDS, Hepatitis and overdoses.

Prohibition policies are based on fiction. They destroy society by creating an environment of crime and corruption, as well as giving government “Big Brother” powers over the lives, recreational habits, and choices of all citizens.

And prohibition policies create vast bureaucracies. And the lies and propaganda which these bureaucracies must create and disseminate, in order to prop up their fiction, can cause aware and thinking people to develop a tragic deep and permanent distrust of the government, of the hardworking people in law enforcement, and of the political process.

Prohibition and the forces that support it are enemies of liberty and domestic tranquility. While there may be issues with the use, and sometimes abuse, of various recreational drugs like alcohol, those issues and those people that abuse should be dealt with directly, instead of creating an unregulated black market that feeds the mouth of crime. That is all prohibition has ever done, and will ever do.

The first web site is very informative about the considerable number of problems that the “WAR ON DRUGS” has given us. I recommend that you read it in its entirety. I do not agree with everything he says, but there is a lot of good info there.
saturn, you didn’t read any of this question, did you?
i agree, whcwarrior. The war on drugs is a PRIODUCT OF LIBERALISM.

How can I forget what it’s like to be high?

I have a history of drug abuse and now I have to be sober (not really my choice. Either be sober or get locked up). I got out of a 60 day inpatient rehab on New Year’s Eve. I was court ordered there and now I’m on probation and I have to go to outpatient 3 times per week. I usually get drug tested twice per week (once by my DJO and once by my outpatient place). About a week after I got out, I smoked weed because I don’t really have a problem with smoking weed too often. Sorry people but it’s not addictive. I don’t care what you say, the high you get from weed is NOTHING. And if you’re thinking, well you’re addicted to weed because you smoked even though it could get you locked up, you’re wrong. I only smoked because I know I can do just fine with smoking weed once a week and I can pass the drug test because it’s just a 5-panel and for some reason I can pass a 5-panel within a day or two after smoking. Anyway, weed did cause a problem. Not the weed itself but being high on weed reminded me how great being high on meth, coke, and heroin is. So, I recently started back on meth because I’m prescribed adderall and I know that even if I’m unlucky enough to somehow fail a 5-panel I can blame it on the adderall and it won’t be a big deal. Unfortunately, my treatment team eventually found out I was getting high because I don’t know when to shut up about certain things and there are snitches everywhere. So, my treatment team told my DJO and now I’m on very thin ice with her. She said if I violate probation one more time, I’m going to DYS(Division of Youth Services) for 6-9 months. And worse yet, because they know that I can pass my ua’s(urine analysis), they started sending my piss to the lab, which can detect if I get high. It takes like 2 weeks to pass a lab test after smoking weed and like 3 days to pass a lab test after doing meth. Now, I could just do meth on weekends or something. Or just do them when I know I don’t have a ua for at least 3 days but the tests are random. Oh, I forgot to mention that the lab tests can tell the difference between adderall and meth in my system. So, now I have to be sober. But I can’t forget how great being high feels and every time I think about it, I get the worst cravings and I want to like leap out of my skin because when you think about being high, being sober just sucks. Not just the mental part, but even physically, it feels like when you have tightness in an area of your body, so you have to stretch it out to make it feel more comfortable. And that’s everywhere and you can’t get rid of it. I don’t feel like this unless I’m thinking about getting high. But I can’t stop thinking about it. I don’t even need a trigger, I will just suddenly feel this chill going down my spine and then I think about it and I just want to slam my head against the wall (which I sometimes do when it’s bad enough). How can I just forget how great it feels like to not be sober?

Do you know of any treatment centers like teen challenge?

My fiance is 41 years old. We live in northern texas. He is currently in jail facing a felony charge. I’ve been talking to his lawyer on finding a place for him to be court ordered to go to get help and hes asking me to give him some numbers and places. Hes addicted to drugs and alcohol. He also has liver problems that will someday take his life if he doesn’t stay sober. The only place that i know of that will help him the best is a non-profit organization called Teen Challenge. Its free and it really helps its students. Although im trying to find other places that are similar that may be a better suit for him. He also has to take medication everyday for his bipolar and schizophrenia, so im looking for a place that will allow that medical support also. Over all im looking for some place that is Free, medical facility, christian environment, and long term. Thank you so very much this would mean the world to me if i had some help.
NOT looking for a clinic.

Can alcoholics drink medication like cough syrup?

I read that cooking with alcohol does not completely eliminate the content or the taste, which can make it difficult sometimes if a dish requires it. So what do alcoholics do if they need to drink cough syrup or other medications that contain alcohol? I understand that cough syrup can even be abused for its content (yuck), and some states require ID for someone to buy it.

Whenever a woman is date raped, what I would like to know is…?

Why is it they think it is morally O.K. to send a MAN to jail that they willing consenting sex with while they were mildly intoxicated?

I mean I DEFINATELY can understand whenever the rape is a mater of force, because that is wrong and THOSE RAPISTS deserve to get the same treatment in jail.

But how is it morally OK for women to convince themselves they were “taken advantage of” when according to a study done in the UK
Over 12 months, and out of 75 patients who claimed to be victims of sexual misconduct and drink tampering with Rohypnol, GHB, or ketamine, 0% were found to have it in their system.
65% of “rape victims” had a blood alcohol content of twice the legal driving limit.
25% of “rape victims” were three times over the limit.
20% of “rape victims” tested positive for amphetamines.

link is:

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-436592/Drug-rape-myth-exposed-study-reveals-binge-drinking-blame.html

Also, do those women feel ashamed knowing they are making it harder to get justice for REAL rape victims?

Moral dilemma – what would you do if you were in a situation like this?

Please note I am not asking what I should do to help, I’m just curious what others make of this as it is a weird situation.

My friend is getting a divorce. He finally served his wife in April after being separated for 4 years. She is a raging alcoholic and mentally ill. For the entire 4 years they were separated she had it locked in her mind that they were still married and would get back together.

She made life miserable for him for the 25 years they were together. She insulted him daily, spent bill money on booze, even gave food out of their freezer away to the baby sitter in exchange for payment so she could spend it on alcohol. She lied, manipulated and turned friends and neighbors against him. She assaulted him on at least four occasions and threatened him with a knife once. He left only recently because his kids are old enough to take care of themselves (he’s attempted to get a divorce and full custody several years ago but she pulled a Jekyll and Hyde and was able to convince the court she was the victim).

Finally things are moving along, but last week she got diagnosed with leukemia. It sounds bad but she is milking it, too. Despite how sick she is and how ugly the chemo is she still continues to call and harass him, saying anything from she’s going to live just so she can clean him out, to if she dies she wants her youngest to live with him but doesn’t want his new girlfriend near the kid. She has also said she wants them to get back together, blah blah. Once again he looks like the monster because he’s divorcing this poor, overweight, sad (and now sick) woman and getting on with his life.

What would you do? She is in the hospital for a month to try to knock the cancer into remission. Either way he’s going to look like the bad guy. Despite all she did he doesn’t wish her harm or want her to die.

Would you have pity for this woman? I know it’s not PC to say but some people just serve no purpose in life other than to make others’ lives miserable. And I am not biased because he is my friend – I have seen for myself what she’s like and her oldest son disowned her because of her alcoholism.

Why is it as soon as someone gets sick or dies they are suddenly a saint?
I think Just Sayin’ just said it best.
They were together for 25 years, married for 20 and have been seperated for four years. He couldn’t get full custody and wasn’t about to leave his kids with a woman who got wasted every day so he didn’t leave. Guess it’s not logical if you’re not in his shoes.

And yes, I do know him well and care for him. He’s been seperated a long time. We now live in different countries but still keep in touch.

What Is an Alcoholics Anonymous Sponsor like?

I found various worksheets and inventories online. Does a sponsor make the sponsee fill out these worksheets.

I understand the sponsee is asked to do a 4th step, 5th step, admit wrongs, etc.

Is this all done verbally or is it written out?

How can “giving one’s life over to God” be spirtual and not religious? What if the sponsee is an athiest? How can they give their life over to God if they don’t believe in God? One could use a doorknob, but that would require believing the doorknob has extraordinary powers and has a personal relationship with the sponsee..

Explain the relationship between a sponsor and a sponsee in AA

Rosacea has ruined my life and I’d like to end it.?

Me- 24, female

Some people have Rosacea and some people have severe Rosacea so before you judge, you should know that. For the last 7 years I have had progressing ocular rosacea and skin rosacea. It is painful, uncomfortable and crippling.
I was a highly academic person, now I can barely use my eyes to read. I was pretty, now I can barely look in the mirror. I was very outgoing, now I can barely look a shopkeeper in the eyes.

What people don’t understand about this disease is that it is not about vanity. I have given up caring how pretty I would like to be, I’d settle for normal. I have constant mucus and painful redness of the eyes and my eyelashes are now falling out. You can’t tell me that there is no reason to be depressed.

I have had IPL,KP Laser, been on doxycycline, minomycin, low dose isotretinoin/roaccutane, had a colonoscopy to check for gastro links, had smart plugs put in my eyes, have used about 50 different eye drops some costing $100 a box. I used lidcare at least twice a day and hot compresses on my eyes. I also coat my face and lids in vaseline every night without fail, or I will suffer the next day. The only products I am not allergic to are cetaphil and at my worst I can’t actually wash my face even with water as my skin is so dry that it cracks and bleeds. If I try to fully open my mouth wide, my skin tears and leaves little blood blisters. Sometimes my eyes puff up and over so I can’t even see out. I don’t eat wheat, I limit dairy- no alcohol, no coffee, you name it. People say I eat like Madonna, all vegies meat and fruit- nothing from a box, can or processed.

I have been to the top dermatologists. My dad is a doctor and so he has accessed some of the best people for me. Some had closed their books and took me on because nobody else could help me.

I guess the purpose of this rant is not to ask for help but to open some people’s eyes to the varying severity of this disease. Some people have it mildly and the treatments help them- but for a lot of people THIS IS NOT A VANITY ISSUE. This is a life issue, a survival issue.

If it wasn’t, why else would a girl who loved people, life and just being normal, be sitting in her house for the last 12months- never leaving, just trying to get some help. Ordering food and anything I need to the door of my house and letting my Grandma go grocery shopping for me.

Yes,I do believe in God and yes I do pray everyday. I am not mad or bitter and people say it is amazing that I cope so well. Everyday I just get through, walk my dog at night when nobody will see me and live with my Grandparents. Thank God for them. Maybe if I can just be a good person and keep perservering God will do something, I don’t know why he doesn’t but I can see how this has made me a better, unsuperficial, compassionate person. I can barely watch Australian Idol without crying for the person voted off these days- THAT is how much this has broken me. If i got better, I’d only want to do good things for people but I feel like this can’t go on. The agony and the boredom of an idle mind, sitting here wasting away like a potato. A very sad potato. hah. Prior to this, I was like a machine- visiting doctor after doctor never giving up but it feels like I have no hope left.

Before you respond to people on this telling them that suicide is not a logical conclusion to severe rosacea, you should know how bad it can be. Just because you have a little bit of pink in your cheeks and can deal with it, doesn’t mean that other people aren’t suffering. So next time, listen to them and know that their complaint is not only legitimate, it deserves some compassion.
Thanks to everyone who has replied. I really appreciate the genuine responses. I just needed to vent.

To the guy who made the first comment, I’m not vain and I don’t ‘care more than other people’. I am tough. If you haven’t seen ppl with severe rosacea,or sight threatening ocular rosacea then that is because many of them don’t leave the house- not because they are vain- but because the sun, wind, fluro lights all exacerbate beyond bearability. I go for walks at night because sometimes I need to wear goggles.
I care about other people and I have seen other people’s suffering, in fact that was my job description before I had to stop work in February. I live on savings right now. I listen to other people’s problems and I care about other people suffering out there stuck inside or with chronic illness, so don’t tell anyone who is suffering that they should think about other people in worse situations. We are all people and our problems matter to each of us, there is room for everyone.
Thank you wee-bird, skye and gold.

Your story broke my heart wee-bird, I almost electrocuted myself crying on the keyboard! ha.

I’m really glad you got better anyway.

I have one more scan to have- I am seeing an endocrinologist who thinks there may be some hormone problem causing me to flush so much. I just got some negative tests back today from him which really sent me into a tail spin.

There are so many people suffering in their houses from all sorts of things. The only thing that keeps me going is hoping their is a positive reason for all this, that I will be so strong if I get better that I will be better than if I’d never been sick.

Thank you to everyone who replied again.

Why do feds get tough on marijuana but ignore hard drugs like crack & cocaine?

Please do not insult my intelligence by saying that they do not. I would like to hear from a law enforcement official or from a lawyer/judge what it is about marijuana that makes it so much worse than heroine, EX, cocaine, crack, etc.

I don’t drink, no other drugs, just pot that I get from my family. I don’t harm anyone and no one gets hurt. I have no problems with my life.
My father does cocaine because drug tests don’t pick it up on urine samples. He also abuses alcohol, has saught both drug and alcohol treatment numerous times, and will likely die when his kidney/liver explode from being pushed to the brink for the last 40 years. His alcohol drove him to physically abuse my mother, mentally abuse me, and use his influence to create theatrical lies about me to the rest of my family in order to cut me out of the will; all because I would not accept his habits, and he saw it as a challenge.

I will restate the question: Why do feds grab up all the marijuana but leave the harder drugs on the streets?

As a “pothead” I am downright outraged at all these commercials about how terrible smoking cigarettes is, about how “this is your brain on drugs”, and all this other garbage… as if I needed a reminder of truly “bad influence” that federal law enforcement simply does not seem to grasp, and I am not alone.

Do your freakin job.
i hate to nag on cops though because they just do what they are told, but feds like the DEA dont answer to dirtballs like that.
Oh, really? You’re some expert, right? I already informed you of my abusive father. The life or death situations I was in as a child gave my PTSD. In many ways I was a soldier before I could even learn to formulate thoughts properly. Instead of taking some medication that will put me into a coma or kill me, I have chosen to smoke marijuana. In the long term it is also much cheaper. I have had no anxiety, and depression is much better than it was many years ago… but, with all due respect, I do not expect you to understand that in your own shoes.
the above msg is meant for fang
thanks for taking part in my question.
