Question by Candy H: My alcoholic ex Mother in Law called CPS on me?
What can I expect? I’m not sure what the allegations are, my son is well taken care of. I have nothing to hide I’m just not sure what will occur when they visit my home. She is angry at me for obtaining a restraining order against her pscyho abusive son.

Q&A: Harassing daily calls from debt collecter called Portfolio Recovery?

Question by OliveSorceress: Harassing daily calls from debt collecter called Portfolio Recovery?
Is anyone else getting bizarre calls from Portfolio Recovery? They say I owe on a Visa bill from 1993! I told them I did not and they keep calling with threats and insults. I told them to take me to court and get a judge to order me to pay after they prove the debt is real.
The calls started sometime last summer and this is the first I’ve heard that I owe money from 1993.
Are these people are valid company or are they manufacturing /buying fake debt records?
The telephone number they are contacting me on is in Illinois. To what government agency can I report them to?

Tell them that this is not a valid debt, and instruct them to stop calling you, or you will sue them under the provisions of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If you have an answering machine, inform them you are taping that call and then read them that statement. Then tape any future calls. Keep a written log too.
You should also follow up with a written letter stating the same, sent certified mail.
Under the Act, you really can sue them if they continue contacting you, except if they notify you about a complaint they’ve filed.
Report any problems you have with a debt collector to your state Attorney General’ s office and the Federal Trade Commission. Many states have their own debt collection laws, and your Attorney General’ s office can help you determine your rights

my boyfriend went into rehab, choice of jail or rehab court ordered …. i heard he’s back at work this week and i’m curious if you think i should call him to see how he is or just leave him alone.
maybe he met someone new at rehab or maybe he wants to be alone.
i’ve never known him clean and sober, so he will be some brand new to me and i’m kinda scared to make the first move.
i think he is scared too.
what do you think ?
I have never taken drugs and very rarely drink alcohol.
We have many things in common such as sports that use to fill our life.
I never wrote to him while he was away in rehab for 4 months because I thought it best, now i’m unsure.
I only want what is best for him ….. I’m really proud of him !
Husband called me tonight to tell me he was “in love” – violated R.O. – What should I do?
Posted by admin in Uncategorized on April 26, 2010
We have been seperated since July because of his alcoholism and violence. I have had a R.O. against him since early October (because he was obsessive, stalking, threatening, and tried to kill himself because he was so distraught over the fact that I wouldn’t take him back). He is forbidden by the courts from contacting me for any reason other than issues pertaining to our children – however, tonight, he called to tell me that he is dating “Frankie” and that he thinks he is in love with her. He was rude to me – like he was trying to make me mad. I even spoke to her briefly (she got on the phone to apologize for him calling me!!). He sounded drunk, and I’m not really sure why he called. My questions are: 1) Does he really think I would care what he is doing? I’m the one who has decided to divorce him. 2) What might he expect to gain from this conversation? 3) Should I call my attorney tomorrow and report that he called me & violated the R.O.? 4) Can men really be this dumb?
How does one section a family member who has become violent while drinking? I was told it was called Sec. 37.?

My brother is a heavy drinker and became belligerent with my 76 year old Mother last night. He did NOT lay a hand on her but I am afraid it won’t be long before something like that does happen. I am worried for my Mom as she has had a heart attack once and cannot take the stress of having to deal with his erratic behavior when he is drinking. He lives with her. I would like to go to the court house to talk to someone possibly putting him away to get treatment for his Psych issues (which I am sure he has as a result of his extended use of alcohol) AND at the same time address his alcoholism which has gone untreated for many many years! I love my brother (he’s 47) — but this behavior is unacceptable. Does any one have any experience with this.
PLEASE DO NOT POST ANY SARCASTIC ANSWERS TO THIS BECAUSE IT IS A VERY SERIOUS SITUATION AND I AM ASKING FOR HELP!—– thanks—
