Question by spike_is_my_evil_vampire: My brother in law has alcoholic hepatitis, do you know someone who has survived with this?
His chances aren’t good (maybe a 30% chance) but if he survives, he can never ever drink again which will be hard for him because he would normally drink a case of beer a day.
Does anyone know of any good vitamins, therapies, etc. that could help? My family is just grasping at straws but I thought I’d ask.

Question by Jake Sully: Is it wrong to do cocaine with your sister-in-law when you worship your brother and want to be like him?
My sister-in-law wants to do cocaine. I want to join the Navy, and i understand no drugs are allowed. But she wants to do cocaine, and i said i would, but i want to be like my brother and be real. Is it ok for me to want to do cocaine with her?

Would be great for a Jerry Springer episode. Cocaine is highly addictive and could ruin your future with both the military and your family. Your brother is gonna give you a beat down after you get his wife pregnant and it turns out to be a crack baby.

My best friend is obsessed with my Brother who just got out of Prison and is currently in rehab.?

My Brother has had a very hard life, ending up in prison for drugs. My best friend was supporting his drug habbit and did anything she could to keep him with her. Finally like all drug addicts he got caught and went to prison. I have always reached out to help him in any way I could. I forgave my best friend for what she did to. Now 3 years later and two kids later for my friend, he is out of Prison and went into a rehab program with my help. He is doing great now. Yesterday I over heard a phone call from her to him saying she was gonna “bring him clothes” so she can see him. Did i mention that she is engaged and has a 1 month old baby with heart problems? I very fimly told her to drop the clothes off with me and I would take them to him. I told her to leave him alone for her sake and his. She is not speaking to me now. a week ago she asked me to be the godmother to her baby, and now shes willing to screw over anyone to get back with him. Which he is only going to use her. Any advice?
As an adult sister-how to get legal custody of 9 year old brother?
Posted by admin in Uncategorized on April 30, 2010
I’m 23 & have been living on my own and supporting myself since I was 17 years old & I’m doing pretty well.
My mother has always been an extremely abusive alcoholic and when I was a minor she severly physically, mentally, and emotionally abused me. I have a 9 year old half-brother who lives with her(neither of our fathers are in the picture). She doesnt physically abuse him but she neglects him and emotionally abuses him. She is drunk since the early morning sometimes and he is terribly afriad of her and wants to live with me.However, she has a nice home,a car, & makes sure he always has food and clothes. Its more about the fear and lonliness she makes him feel. I want to try to take her to family court to get custody but do I have a case here? The home he lives in is fit and she is able to hide her alcoholism very well and not drink for days at a time, sometimes even weeks. But it always comes back worse then ever. Would I be able to prove she is unfit? Anyone that knows law, please help.
Feeling guilty – I turned in my brother for violating his probation?
Posted by admin in Uncategorized on April 29, 2010
and I feel very guilty. He is sitting in jail now.
He is a severe alcoholic and got a DUI about 6 months ago. He was also required to go to treatment and do 200 hours of community service as well as 2 years probation and he was to refrain from using any/all drugs and alcohol.
He hasn’t been going to treatment and continues to drink so I called the police and informed them.
How do I deal with the guilt?
I know it is for his own benefit – he has a blood platelet count of 35 and one fall could cause him to bleed out. I just feel so damn guilt for turning him in
Helping my brother sober up?
Posted by admin in Uncategorized on April 28, 2010
My seventeen year old brother is currently in court ordered rehab for addiction to marijuana. He is an exceptionally bright young man, but his choices are leading him down a path that we aren’t sure we can pull him off of. Our parents are naturally worried and upset at his choices, but they want to help him. I am nearly 21 years old and have never gone down this road personally, but I have watched the destructive behaviors that the addiction can lead toward. He has also gotten into cutting (some of the cuts are so deep they require stitches).
He has shoplifted, skipped school on a routine basis (in the spring semester alone he missed 70 days and has lost all of his high school credits), and has run away from home.
He has been diagnosed several years ago with ADHD and is on Adderall. Unlike most people who smoke marijuana my brother doesn’t mellow out, instead he hypes up and bounces off the walls. Naturally we assume that this is because of the ADHD. He has also been recently diagnosed with severe addictive personality disorder.
What can we do as a family to help him stay sober? I don’t want to lose my brother and I am afraid that later down the road he is going to get into stronger and much more dangerous substances that will kill him. I want to help him, but I don’t know how and some of my ideas are a little extreme (one of them being I think he should spend some time in jail).
We know that he is only smoking marijuana because he has to submit to a drug test weekly in order for his script for his Adderall to be filled for the following week.
Getting Custody of my Brother?
Posted by admin in Uncategorized on April 28, 2010
HI, I am 24 yrs old, married, own my home. My husband makes good money, I am currently looking for work. But my question is this, my little brother is 14. He currently lives with our mom. She is a crack-head literally. And his father (my step-dad) just passed away a month ago. So she has full custody of my brother. I am trying to see what I will need to do, and how difficult it would be to get custody of my brother. My mom has already been to jail, 3 court ordered rehab programs, in 2003 was charged with child endangerment. She has a court record that is a mile long. She is currently still using everyday, she recently has stayed gone for almost 24 straight hours, leaving my little brother home alone over night. With this info, which I can include more if you would like. But with this, what is the best way to go about getting custody of him. He is 14 and has said that he would rather live with me. What are the steps I need to take? What is the likely hood that I will be granted custody?? Any info is helpful! Thanks
We only live about 10 minutes from each other. She will never sign any custody papers to me. She will fight me with everything that she has.

My brother in law is battling a heroin addiction. He voluntarily spent 30 days in rehab but relapsed as soon as he came out. Is there any way my wife or her family can get him court ordered rehab in massachusetts even though he is 23? we have heard of a section 12 or 13 order but cant seem to find info on it. please help as we don’t think at the rate he is going he will reach 24. If no such thing exist in Massachusetts what about Florida as my wife and I live in Florida so we may be able to get him down here if such a law exist in Florida.
