Q&A: If I get a restraint order on my ex, will it be harder for him to get visitation rights after our baby is born

Question by Voni: If I get a restraint order on my ex, will it be harder for him to get visitation rights after our baby is born
If I get a restraint order on my ex, will it be harder for him to get visitation rights after our baby is born?
Im 3 months pregnant. My relationship with my ex is just NEVER going to function, trust me we’ve tried very hard. He is aggressive, violent, verbally/mentally abusive, started to show recovery of being an alcoholic but went right back, and not to mention that he’s got his priorities all messed up and has already threatened to take our child away after its born.
I want to put a restraint order primarily for my safety and of my unborn child.
Will this also help prove my case in court should he take me there? Would it be harder for him to get and rights on the baby?

How do you feel about a situation where a baby is born to an out of wedlock mother who has already had custody?

of one child removed and given to the father. She would not abide by court orders after being given nearly two years to take parenting classes, go to rehab and get off drugs, counceling, etc., and was arrested for harboring a fugitive during the time. During these four years after the first child, she miscarried one, and had a new infant. Upon birth, she knows who the father is sure enough to tell friends, but she does not tell the father. She lists “father unknown” on the child’s birth certificate. Should she be allowed to take another child home? What do you think about not listing the father or at least a paternity test? Should our laws allow such as this to happen? She has no steady job, no drivers license, no vehicle, and is currently living with prestigious parents that have thrown her out of the house three times.
She would not consider abortion.

Did I do the right thing by calling the jail and telling them that an inmate’s son was just born?

The guy can’t call anyone because everyone has that block so you can’t call collect. He is in jail for petty theft. It was really dumb on his part because he knew that his girlfriend could be having his baby anytime. It was 2-weeks early and unfortunately, his court date was tomorrow and they probably would have let him out.
ANYWAYS! I called the jail (it’s a small jail) and talked to a nice jailer and she told me that she’d relay the message that his little boy was born around midnight last night and is doing just fine! It’s his first baby. They are both friends of mine. I just hope that maybe this will be a MAJOR WAKE-UP CALL to him! Hopefully, someone taped it. I guess her mom and dad were with her. He does have a drug addiction (that’s why he stole). When I first met him, he was totally different. I think she should give him an ultimatum and if he won’t get help then get a restraining order but she LOVES him too much. She’s the prettiest, sweetest girl and she just turned 21. He’s going to be 29 and he’s tried to corrupt her. Maybe I’ll get some “MYOB” but I see myself in this girl 15 years ago (I’m 36). I was very pretty, had tons going for me, had very supportive parents, had everything I could want but I threw it away for drugs.
