Did sending illegal back home sending him to Guatemala, did the hospital falsely imprisoned him?
Posted by admin in Uncategorized on July 9, 2010
STUART — Testimony Wednesday from the Martin Memorial Medical Center nurse who in 2003 accompanied illegal immigrant Louis Jimenez to a medical facility in Guatemala wrapped up a nearly three-week trial as attorneys representing the Stuart hospital rested their case.
Closing arguments are expected to begin at 9 a.m. Thursday.
Jurors in the false imprisonment case listened to nurse Diana Gregory describe the steps she and other Martin Memorial staff took to arrange an international transfer for the severely brain-damaged Jimenez after he’d lived at the hospital for nearly three years, running up $1.5 million in unpaid medical care.
Gregory described photos showing Jimenez as she escorted him July 10, 2003, onto an air ambulance to Guatemala City, then to an orthopedic rehabilitation center that had agreed to accept him as a patient.
She told jurors during the flight, Jimenez — who has the cognitive abilities of a young child — received snacks, drinks, read magazines and had fun looking out the window.
“At any point did he … express that he was upset or sad or frightened in any way?” hospital attorney Scott Michaud asked.
“No sir,” Gregory replied, “The plane ride was a great adventure.”
She noted that at the rehab center, Jimenez busied himself talking to those around him, showing off his toy cat.
After his repatriation, Jimenez and his Indiantown guardian sued Martin Memorial, claiming that by sending him to Guatemala, the hospital falsely imprisoned him despite a court order permitting the transfer.
Jimenez’s attorneys at trial have argued the hospital’s actions were unreasonable and unwarranted, in part because during a 2003 guardianship hearing, evidence was presented showing Guatemala lacked the facilities to treat his traumatic brain injury, and that a state probate judge lacked the jurisdiction to order him extradited to a foreign country.

Winning back the love of my life…HELP!?

My fiancee and I have been together for 2 years, 3 months, and have been engaged for 2 years, 1 month. We’re very involved with each other’s families, and we’re very committed to eachother. In the time we’ve been together, we’ve had to overcome cancer, alcoholism, eating disorders, as well as 2 court cases. We’ve always been exceptionally strong as partners and our peers have always wondered at the strength of our relationship at such a young age. I am 17, he is 18.
Recently, we’ve run into some difficulties as far as college, because we both applied to the same university for Early Decision, I got in, he did not.
About a week ago, he told me that he’s not sure he can be happy while making me happy, and that he wants to feel less serious and restricted, and that I am too serious about some things (money, grad school, etc.), and that he wants to break up with me. Since then, I’d met with him and when we saw each other, he said he wasn’t sure anymore, and wanted to stay, but would tell me for certain on January 1st, and would give himself that time to re-evaluate all the good things in our relationship. Innitially, I was happy with this.
But, honestly, I don’t know what to do with myself right now. Worrying about him terminating everything we’ve worked so hard to achieve is taking a physical toll on me. I can’t eat, or sleep, or concentrate on anything for more that a few minutes without thinking about his decision and trying not to break down.
I’m sure he’s the love of my life, and even our families think we belong together, and he says he loves me the same way he always has, and that I’ve convinced him that we can both be happy together, so what’s the problem? He’s still telling me he “doesn’t know” what his answer is.
How can I convince him that our love is worth staying and fighting for? What do I do if he decides we’re through? How do I win him back?
Please help, E
Should I take the man who bankrupted me back?
Posted by admin in Uncategorized on February 8, 2010
My husband started acting weird three or four years ago. I found out October 2007 he was using crack. He swore he stopped. In September I filed for divorce after he threw a phone at me and said he would kill me. In October 2008 he went to rehab, after the court ordered drug test came back VERY positive (off the charts according to the judge). I told him I wasn’t stopping the proceedings just because he did this. I am about to be forced into bankruptcy because he maxed out my credit and left me to pay the bills and care for our two children.
Here’s the rub. I do love him. I didn’t speak to him for a month, thinking the feelings would lessen….but they didn’t. He wants me to give him another chance. I want to, but so many people have helped me survive the past few months and if I take him back it is like I don’t appreciate it. I don’t know what I should do.
