How can I prove to the courts that my husband is an alcoholic & should have limited visitation?
Posted by admin in Court Ordered Rehabilitation on February 8, 2011
Question by ret340: How can I prove to the courts that my husband is an alcoholic & should have limited visitation?
I am about to file for divorce & NEED to prove my husband is an alcoholic & will put our 3-year-old’s safety at risk. I know most judges will rule the alcoholic can’t drive the child or have him overnight, but I have no proof that my husband is a drunk!
He drinks at his home & doesn’t drive much. He hides vodka in his laptop bag so he can drink at work, but hasn’t been caught yet. Strangely enough, he is a brilliant IT director & very respected!
I know for a fact that he drink around the clock because he has physical withdrawals if he goes without alcohol one day. He physically can’t avoid alcohol in order to have visitation since he gets violently ill, so I know he’ll drink while caring for my son (even if the jugde orders him not to).
Since he has no DUI offenses & hasn’t lost jobs due to driking, what else can I do to prove he is an alcoholic & that he will put our son’s safety in danger?
BTW, he has driven my son while drunk…I just don’t have evidence to show the court.
I’ve thought of calling the cops when he leaves here drunk, but I doubt they will locate him while he’s on the road. They’d have to respond within seconds to catch him driving away.
I’ve also considered hiring a private investigator to track him & get proof, but doubt I can afford it.
Wow, there are some very angry people attacking me! He wasn’t an alcoholic when I met him 10 years ago. The drinking has become a problem the last 2 years.
The reason I am divorcing him is so MY SON won’t have to suffer life with his alcoholic father in the home. I also can’t stop my husband from driving him while drunk!
How dare anyone say I’m the one who is hurting my child. Divorce is incredibly painful for all of us, but in the end I have to protect my child!

My father -in-law is an alcoholic and has been very moody lately. If we are there for 5 hours he will have about 10-15 drinks. Im not comfortable being around someone like this so obviously I don’t want my son around it. Are there any nice ways i can stop going over there with him?

Alcoholic mother-in-law: bleeding and “age spots.” What could be happening?!?

Question by monkeylove: Alcoholic mother-in-law: bleeding and “age spots.” What could be happening?!?
My mother-in-law has “age spots” covering her from wrist to elbow that are terribly purple. Recently, she told me that she’s having vaginal and rectal bleeding, yet refuses to see a physician.
I fear it may have to do with the drinking/liver. She is also a heavy smoker.
I know it’s impossible for me to make her see a doctor, but what do you think is wrong?

Sounds like classic liver damage/chirrosis!!! I know, I have it… if she doesn’t get help soon, she will be MISERABLY ILL and in PAIN for quite some time before she dies…. Nothing worse than death by liver failure!! I was lucky, caught it just in time… and my liver is now BARELY letting me live… but when my belly swelled up due to liquid in my abdomen and I have stretch marks (I am a guy!!!) I looked like I was 8 months pregnant!!! They drained 2 GALLON of liquid from my abdomen… – I wished I was dead!!!!
Tell her to see her doctor or she will be in so much pain SOON that she will wish she were dead… too bad it just doesn’t kill a person in their sleep…. wow, I feel bad for her!!!
What do you think? Answer below!

Question by spike_is_my_evil_vampire: My brother in law has alcoholic hepatitis, do you know someone who has survived with this?
His chances aren’t good (maybe a 30% chance) but if he survives, he can never ever drink again which will be hard for him because he would normally drink a case of beer a day.
Does anyone know of any good vitamins, therapies, etc. that could help? My family is just grasping at straws but I thought I’d ask.

her alcoholism is catching up with her, the body can take only so much. She probably has severe hypertension which is causing the discoloration of her skin, she probably has bleeding ulcers causing her rectal bleeding and fibroid tumors causing her vaginal bleeding. And if she will not stop drinking or seek the aid of a physician, don’t plan on seeing her around for much longer.

How far-reaching is the open container law for alcoholic beverages?
Posted by admin in Drug & Alcohol Laws on July 26, 2010
Question by Mrs. Maintenance: How far-reaching is the open container law for alcoholic beverages?
I take bi-weekly trips to the recycle yard. I bring in lots of stuff, including copper pipes, aluminum cans, a little bit of everything. I usually keep all the recycles in the trunk. However I wound up with quite a bit more than normal this time. My neighbor just gave me three big boxes of beer cans, and my trunk is already full, so the only place I have to put these beer cans is in the back seat. If I were to get pulled over between my home and the recycle yard, and it was obvious that I was not intoxicated, and on the way to the recycle yard, would/could I really get arrested for having the boxes of beer cans in the back seat? Do cops normally use common sense where that’s concerned…as in, there’s no way she drank 72 beers in her car, there’s nothing to arrest her for? Or would most cops just arrest me anyway for violating the open container law?

i think cops have to take recycling into account. you should be OK.

Why do alcoholic drinks lack a Nutrition Label?
Posted by admin in Uncategorized on July 24, 2010
Please refrain from responding with the hackneyed joke that “alcohol has no nutrition!”
Is the consumption of alcohol not regulated by the FDA? If not, then why doesn’t whatever agency with the power to do so not require a nutrition label?

Alcoholic husband will not leave home that is in my name voluntarily legal advise required guidence needed.?
Posted by admin in Uncategorized on July 22, 2010
I have known him for 4yrs now, been married almost 2yrs. House is in my name with my grandmother as co-signer. All bills, credit cards, both vehicles, insurance, etc. are in my name. Nothing is in his. However, we consider 1 vehicle his & 1 mine. No argument on who will get what on those. We also have horses & he has put alot of blood & sweat into making a comfy farm for them. So yes, he has contributed to the value of the home. Has received his 2nd dui & I want out. All the broken promises of quitting. All the neglect & lonliness I suffer from. I have begged, pleaded & asked nicely for him to move out until he can get help. He will not do anything other than what the court orders. Meaning, he will not do anything to help to save us. In being 37, I want “out” to be able to find the happiness I deserve and have worked hard for all my life to have. Does it have to get nasty or can I just get a restraining order or something to get him to either get the hint or get out?

What if any are the laws regarding use of another companies’ alcoholic spirits in a product I mix and sell?
Posted by admin in Uncategorized on July 17, 2010
I live in Ohio and I am interested in making and selling pre-made mixed drinks and shots. But, because I am a very small operation, I cannot produce the schnapps and such needed to produce these drinks. Are there any pressing legal issues associated with using another companies products in something that I will mix with several other ingredients, often from several different manufacturers, bottle myself, and package for sale? Any special liscensing required? I know that I would need a manufacturing license from the State of Ohio and such, but would I be obligated to tell a company if I were using their products in the mix?
Anyone know how to make an alcoholic drink at home that tastes good but doesn’t require a distiller?
Posted by admin in Uncategorized on July 12, 2010
I’ve heard of making a drink using fruit skins, water and sugar, leave in a bottle for about a month and then drink, but I can’t imagine it tastes much good. Does anyone know of a good home made drink? Every other site I visited has recipies that require distillation and complicate things with talking about enzimes and the like.
Thanks in advance.

living with an alcoholic?
Posted by admin in Uncategorized on July 12, 2010
me and my brother live with my mom. he is 35 years old and a really bad alcoholic. my mom gives him a place to stay and he has a job..which pays for the alcohol. he is causing my mom to have severe depression and she really doesnt know what to do at this point. she wants to get a restraining order against him but she knows he will just keep coming back and she doesnt want to have to keep dealing with the cops at 3am, like she did with my dad(who was also an alcoholic)
she is also thinking about putting all the money she has into getting him treatment but he is unwilling to go and we both know he will probably start drinking again when he gets out. i have 2 young children and i dont want them exposed to this kind of thing.
any advice of what we should do would be greatly appreciated
