My alcoholic ex Mother in Law called CPS on me?

Question by Candy H: My alcoholic ex Mother in Law called CPS on me?
What can I expect? I’m not sure what the allegations are, my son is well taken care of. I have nothing to hide I’m just not sure what will occur when they visit my home. She is angry at me for obtaining a restraining order against her pscyho abusive son.

Best answer:

i dont really get the US law, it’s not exactly like it’s a contractual relationship between the store, the customer and oh everyone within 5 feet of the customer.

Q&A: Are there any natural antidepressants available that would work on an alcoholic?

Question by Stacy: Are there any natural antidepressants available that would work on an alcoholic?
My father in law is an alcoholic. He is 60+ and it does not appear that he has an interest in getting help with his alcoholism. He’s gone to the VA…they gave him antidepressants. However, he won’t take them because he can’t drink while taking them. Is anyone familiar with any natural antidepressants that won’t effect him negatively if he continues to drink?

Best answer:

Answer by Leo D
Yerba mate tea. Get the Bija brand, it’s the best. Put some local honey in it, it will help his immune system.

Also, the doctor needs to give him folic acid, it helps alcoholics.

And give him a food multi-B and lots of vitamin C and D.

Alcoholic needs booze at 5 am to stop withdrawel symptoms, how would they detox and get to rehab?

Question by Sweetness: Alcoholic needs booze at 5 am to stop withdrawel symptoms, how would they detox and get to rehab?
Just curious. My sister-in-law Deanna is the mother of 4 kids, two adults, two minors. Her alcoholism has progressed a lot in the past 3 years since I first met her until now. The kids tell me that now she is having to get up and drink early in the morning to manage all of her withdrawel symptoms. I don’t think she is going to get help, but i’m curious about how would someone this advanced detox and get help? Please share a story, or any information that you know about this. Thanks in advance.
just looking for answers to the question, not so much for my sis-in-law as she will never get treatment – intervention won’t work, long family history, gets drunk daily with hubby, kids, and her mother. Yes, I’ve called everyone under the sun about protection for kids – no response. I’ve been told being an alcoholic isn’t a crime by childrens protective services and law enforcement. Just curious if she did get help, the medical side of what would be necessary to get her detoxed and into a rehab. Thanks much for all the answers!

Best answer:

Answer by **STARR**
the best way to get help for her would be to contact a rehab facility. First your sister in law needs to realize and want help. If you don’t know where you can find the nearest or best rehab facility, i’m sure you can contact a doctor or hospital and get references. I hope your sister in law gets help soon.

If drunken drivers (once convicted) were made to walk naked across the town or city they were risking peoples lives, I believe DUI would end 99.9 % as we know it. Simple law big fix. Then who would be laughing?

How do I go about helping an alcoholic family member?

Question by perutt2002: How do I go about helping an alcoholic family member?
I have had a sister and brother-in-law living with me while their new home is being built. During every dinner for one month I have seen the two of them share entire bottle of wine. How do I go about helping the two of them beat their alcoholism?

Best answer:

Answer by Mr. Taco
Talk to them. Get online and do a search on alcoholism and give them the literature on it. Call Al-Anon. And that is about it. Ultimately only THEY can beat their alcoholism. Other than supplying the information they need and your support, there is not a lot you can do.

Just curious where it comes from and how it works.

Best answer:

Answer by 07_Shelby_GT500
Its not a nationwide law, its specifc to the state and even to the municipality. In New Orleans, they are very liberal with regard to walking around on the street with an open container. In NYC, you can’t do that, you’ll get a ticket.

How can I prove to the courts that my husband is an alcoholic & should have limited visitation?

Question by ret340: How can I prove to the courts that my husband is an alcoholic & should have limited visitation?
I am about to file for divorce & NEED to prove my husband is an alcoholic & will put our 3-year-old’s safety at risk. I know most judges will rule the alcoholic can’t drive the child or have him overnight, but I have no proof that my husband is a drunk!
He drinks at his home & doesn’t drive much. He hides vodka in his laptop bag so he can drink at work, but hasn’t been caught yet. Strangely enough, he is a brilliant IT director & very respected!
I know for a fact that he drink around the clock because he has physical withdrawals if he goes without alcohol one day. He physically can’t avoid alcohol in order to have visitation since he gets violently ill, so I know he’ll drink while caring for my son (even if the jugde orders him not to).
Since he has no DUI offenses & hasn’t lost jobs due to driking, what else can I do to prove he is an alcoholic & that he will put our son’s safety in danger?
BTW, he has driven my son while drunk…I just don’t have evidence to show the court.
I’ve thought of calling the cops when he leaves here drunk, but I doubt they will locate him while he’s on the road. They’d have to respond within seconds to catch him driving away.
I’ve also considered hiring a private investigator to track him & get proof, but doubt I can afford it.
Wow, there are some very angry people attacking me! He wasn’t an alcoholic when I met him 10 years ago. The drinking has become a problem the last 2 years.
The reason I am divorcing him is so MY SON won’t have to suffer life with his alcoholic father in the home. I also can’t stop my husband from driving him while drunk!
How dare anyone say I’m the one who is hurting my child. Divorce is incredibly painful for all of us, but in the end I have to protect my child!

Alcoholic mother-in-law: bleeding and “age spots.” What could be happening?!?

Question by monkeylove: Alcoholic mother-in-law: bleeding and “age spots.” What could be happening?!?
My mother-in-law has “age spots” covering her from wrist to elbow that are terribly purple. Recently, she told me that she’s having vaginal and rectal bleeding, yet refuses to see a physician.

I fear it may have to do with the drinking/liver. She is also a heavy smoker.

I know it’s impossible for me to make her see a doctor, but what do you think is wrong?

Best answer:

Answer by Short3Gears
Sounds like classic liver damage/chirrosis!!! I know, I have it… if she doesn’t get help soon, she will be MISERABLY ILL and in PAIN for quite some time before she dies…. Nothing worse than death by liver failure!! I was lucky, caught it just in time… and my liver is now BARELY letting me live… but when my belly swelled up due to liquid in my abdomen and I have stretch marks (I am a guy!!!) I looked like I was 8 months pregnant!!! They drained 2 GALLON of liquid from my abdomen… – I wished I was dead!!!!

Tell her to see her doctor or she will be in so much pain SOON that she will wish she were dead… too bad it just doesn’t kill a person in their sleep…. wow, I feel bad for her!!!

What do you think? Answer below!

Q&A: My brother in law has alcoholic hepatitis, do you know someone who has survived with this?

Question by spike_is_my_evil_vampire: My brother in law has alcoholic hepatitis, do you know someone who has survived with this?
His chances aren’t good (maybe a 30% chance) but if he survives, he can never ever drink again which will be hard for him because he would normally drink a case of beer a day.

Does anyone know of any good vitamins, therapies, etc. that could help? My family is just grasping at straws but I thought I’d ask.

Best answer:

Answer by little ace
nope hepatitis is in the liver ounce you got it you have it my mom had it hepatitis A-B, just be sure when you are around him you dont drink out of the same glass or use the same fork or spoon that he uses and be careful about who kissing him on the lips because hepatitis is very contuses especially the Sylvia and if he has a cold or if he cough a lot especially around children ask him to wear a mask and always wash your hands
