domestic abuse gone too far legally?

Question by Peggy: domestic abuse gone too far legally?
i am a young adult in my 20s.i have controlling religous parents and during college they forced me to live at home and i was suffering medical conditions so i couldnt afford to work and attend class at the same time to pay for housing or my own tuition. they said they would pay tuition and for books, necesities if i lived at home and commuted , so i did
then i got into a bad accident in my senior year and couldnt walk well anymore and i suffer multiple severe health problems i found out when i went to the hospital from the accident. they expected me to die since it was a severe accident but i fought and tried to survive.
i am a young adult with severe health problems and debilitating effects from the accident
i used to be athletic and very mobile and physically active, now i can barely get myself down steps or out of bed with no trouble. i walk slow and used a walker for much of the last few years since the injury
i also pass out alot because i found out i have a heart condition so i get dizzy many times and chest pains.so i have to be careful, im trying to care for my health so i can rehabilitate and go back and finish 2 more semesters(i never finished the first of the last yr). and then get a career and move away this time around.
if i had a degree i could get a good job and support myself. right now thats not possible. im sick and in severe pains daily. im in the worst pain sometimes. it is worse then going to a dentist. i never felt such pain in my life but i had to adjust to it, since pain medication dosnt help alot.
so im not physically well for a person my age and im not able to work or do any manual labor such as lifting certain things, running, bending without more pains, this all started after the accident, before this of course i was physically able to do anything..
now i have this new severe mobility trouble. but i care for myself. i bathe, dress, feed myself with no one helping(no one ever did after the injury)i always managed but i do things slower and take my time.i cant lift shopping bags so i compromise and order delivery over the phone. i buy groceries over the phone to be delivered

anyways i have abusive parents. even tho they allow their adult children to live at home. i have 4 siblings, my older sibling lived at home till she was 29 and got married. my other older sister lived at home alot as an adult and for a few months when she was 26. they financially support all of my siblings.
but they have become physically violent to me. i dont need them i just need a roof over my head or a comfortable place to stay so i can recover and see doctors and care for my health, its a long recovery process. i am onloy starting to see a little progress now
i just need a roof over my head, a comfortable place to rest and some basic necessities like food, basic clothes, vitamins.
so i do not need to pay rent if i live at home
but i dont think its a problem since i have wealthy parents who pay for credit cards, cars, houses, vacations for my siblings but not me.
so its not a burden to pay for groceries for me or some cheap shoes or a coat
i get verbally abused every day by them, my father has some big problem, he screams and threatens me daily he causes severe abuse on me
he got angry, he is angry alot but he hired an expensive lawyer and went to court and got legal control over me.i am a grown woman in my 20s. so this is the usa and this should not be legal
he must have lied in court, because when he went i was on bed rest and unable to walk down the stairs. so i could not get to court and didnt have money for a lawyer since i spent all of my money paying for many of my health costs and medical tests.i have very little savings left
i read some of the court papers and it says on the papers that im born with mental retardation and have the iq of a 7 year old child. he did not tell the court that im a college educated sophisticated young woman. he did not tell them that i have health problems, he did not tell them that i was in an accident. he told them that i dont work and that im mentally retarded and do not know how to perform simple tasks that many schoolchildren do
he made up a bunch of lies and went without me knowing to a psychiatrist and had a letter writen about me saying im schitzophrenic, when i never even met this doctor. if the doctor exhists. there was an adress on the letter so i called the cops and told them the adress of the office that was on paper. they told me i need to go to the police station in the town the office is
i do not drive and the office is an hour away and out of the state.
so i gave up on that
my local precinct didnt want to let me file anything
there also is a letter from a social worker i never saw with many lies written down about me.. i found this all stapled in court papers

i am guessing he must have used alot of fake evidence against me
because i do not qualify for this

i dont have money for a lawyer and legal aid refuses to help me since

I don’t know what you’re looking for. If the situation at your parents is abusive, leave. If you’ve got a college education you should be able to do something. If that’s not an option, phone your local bar association or legal aid and find yourself a lawyer.

Why is it that police officers have the highest rate of alcoholism, spousal abuse, suicide, and divorce?

Question by : Why is it that police officers have the highest rate of alcoholism, spousal abuse, suicide, and divorce?
I am considering pursuing a career in law enforcement but after having done a little bit of research and talking to a couple of police officers it seems that law enforcement personnel are plagued with alcoholism, spousal abuse, suicide, and divorce. Supposedly their rates for these four categories are higher than the national average. What can explain for these trends and how stressful and fun is a career in law enforcement.. (I would preferably like responses from current or former police officers but anyone is welcome to answer. Please state whether you are involved in law enforcement)

Best answer:

Answer by Bruce
I have not seen a single statistic to support your claims of alcoholism and abuse. If you have one, please post it.

I have seen a statistic on divorce that puts police at 60%. This may seem high, but the average for the entire US is 55%, so it is only slightly higher. You can probably account the extra 5% simply to working holidays, weekends, and lots of overtime.

Suicide has always been high in the police profession due to the stress, long hours, shift work, high expectations, and the fact they see the worst of society on a daily basis.

Any alcohol abuse treatment centers in Toledo, Oregon?

Are there any alcohol abuse treatment centers in Toledo, Oregon? We have this assignment about alcohol abuse and I really want to do well in it. Alcohol abuse is a very sensitive topic for me because I lost my brother Nate because of a car accident wherein the designated driver was an alcoholic. I want to find out as much as I can about alcohol abuse not just because I want to receive good grades but because I want to learn more about it in order to spread an awareness regarding the negative effects of alcohol. Thank you for your time.

Can you complete a court ordered substance abuse rehab program from Hawaii in Florida?

In Hawaii first time DUI offenders must take a 14 hour substance abuse rehab program course. I am moving back to Florida two days after my hearing and was wondering if anyone new if it was possible to complete the program in Florida? If not I’ll have to fly back to Hawaii just to take this program. To me a “rehab” program can be done anywhere.

Substance Abuse Counselors only…Help with treatment plan assignment.?

Below is a fictional character in for treatment. I am to compare my treatment plan with those of other substance abuse counselors. Please provide a general treatment plan that you would develop based on the below information.

Bill is 32 years old.
Referred by probation department.
Received 2nd DUI 1 month ago, posted .22 BA level.
First DUI was 3 years ago posting a BA of .18.
Used pot since age 13 and was high on last arrest.
He barely remembers being arrested, but remembers drinking 24 beers and feeling “shaky” upon awakening in jail.
Most of his drinking occurs in the evening after work.
Usually consumes about 6-8. Use is higher on the weekends. The last use of alcohol was 3 days ago.
Bill states that his problem with beer and marijuana began when he started to hang out with older people. He says that he really did not like the way it tasted, but it made him feel different, and away from reality.
He has been married two times. He has two sons. His wife wants him to stop because of all the bills and fines. He also admits that they separated when he got so drunk four months ago that he hit her. Because of this he recalls slowing down for a while and even quitting for about a week or two, but started again when he couldn’t “sleep right”.
Relationship with father is strained with a sound relationship with his mother.
He has received his GED.
Socially, he reports a few friends, mostly drinking or work buddies.
He enjoys hunting and fishing.
He is working as a maintenance person for the past year. He admits that he has received several warning for coming in late.
Medically, he is healthy.
Financially, they are on the verge of bankruptcy.
He smokes about a quarter ounce of pot every 1-2 weeks.
He adamantly denies any other drug use.

AXIS I: Alcohol Dependence, Marijuana abuse.
AXIS II: 301.70 Antisocial Personality Disorder
AXIS III: None reported by client
AXIS IV: Financial and legal problems,
AXIS V: Current GAF 69 Highest past year 72

Relationship after drug/alcohol abuse?

My boyfriend of almost 2 years began showing signs of a drinking problem about 6 months ago. He was arrested while drunk for disorderly conduct. After that, he stopped drinking so much, but began again during a visit with his family. He then really kicked his butt out of drinking. However, I recently found out that he traded his alcohol addiction for a meth addiction. He is now in jail after failing a drug test at a hospital b/c he was having feelings of paranoia and anxiety and thought it was a psychological problem–it’s not, it was part of his drug abuse. I’d love some advice on how to move on with my life. We had plans to get married, and I’m just crushed to know of all the lies and deceit that took over this relationship. I still care for him and want to help him but know I NEED to move on with my life without him. Any advice or suggestions of where to seek advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks.
