I have a question about the manufacturing meth laws back in the 1990s/early 2000s?

Question by You know me, I’m your friend: I have a question about the manufacturing meth laws back in the 1990s/early 2000s?
Were the consequences for manufacturing meth a lot less severe back in those days compared to now? I often wonder cause I remember seeing a lot of rolling meth labs on COPS back in the old days

Best answer:

Answer by WRG
Not really, while some states have increase the penalties the reason you don’t see them as often now is because the raw ingredients were a lot easier to come by back then.

Question About My Son?

Question by paulhookman: Question About My Son?
My son is 12yrs old and when i busted my back he went to live with his nana and papa until i got better, well my recovery took 18months and in that time they(grandparents) convinced themselves they were his parents so i had to actually take them to court to get my son back which took a whole year because of the jammed up court system.
To make a long story short my 12yr old was diagnosed as having depression as a result of family issues. We were told that his grandparents ,myself and my husband should go with my son to his counseling sessions in order to help him, but his grandparents say they shouldn’t have to and while he was living with them he was great and that they do no wrong and his depression is purely my fault. Now as his mother i openly admit that when he was a baby i was a bad mother i had no help and he was my first child and i knew nothing of raising kids. I never drank or did drugs i just did things poorly like i would wait 4 or 5 hrs before changing his diaper but only cause i didn’t know any differently. Should his grandparents come to the counseling or am i purely responsible for my son being depressed?
this is my husbands account. I should also note that up until 4months ago my sons grandfather was showering with my son and he felt there was nothing wrong with that and yet we never knew it was happening until my son told us and we put an end to that very quickly, so do you think maybe his grandfather doesn’t want to do the counseling session in fear that something might come out about him possibly molesting my son?
his grandfather said that my son told him he was afraid of me and that he was afraid to contradict me and i told him so what i am his mother, his parent and he can contradict me and question me when he is 18 but not until then and i should add that his biological father is not in the picture and never has been and the grandfather is such a good parent that his own daughter had 2 kids by the time she was 18.

Best answer:

Answer by ~Sunshine~
The grandparents sound like nutjobs, and even if you’re not a perfect parent, you don’t sound terrible. They should go, but they sound crazy anyways so maybe it wouldn’t help. No one is responsible for his depression, depression just happens sometimes. Good luck.

The responsibility of State Employees is to ensure that the the 17th Amendment is implemented so that you attain the rights to perform your job duties with modern levels of accountability where the Central Government is an active partner in constitutional protections instead of a dictating force against it.
There must be a restoration of law and respect of the law. We are in a stage that the due process of the 17th amendment is the saving grace of Sri Lanka. During times of conflict ordinary citizens and government employees had certain restrictions placed on them for the sake of national security and though national security is still a principle concern we must immediately take measures to ensure that the rights of citizens are not going to be continually trodden upon with National Security used as an excuse for government to harass citizens. Mahinda Rajapaksa had agreed to implement the 17th amendment to the constitution – being full aware that the the 13th amendment was a deemed a non-starter by the supreme court. Instead of doing so he has called for early elections and has had bands of thugs both involved in his government and imported into the country through his brothers invoke retaliatory tactics on the public.

The peoples of Colombo should know that if there are not protections for the citizens in outlying areas peacefully enacting their RIGHT of franchise then there will also not be such rights for Colombo. After 30 years of terrorism we must gather and put in place law and order based on constitutional law and procedures barring the at will practices the dictated government during past hostilities.
VOTE FOR CHANGE – CHANGE THAT WAS OVERWHEMINGLY APPROVED BY PARLIAMENT-CHANGE THAT WAS REFUSED BY SEVERAL ADMINISTRATIONS INCLUDING THE RAJAPAKSE REGIME TO ENFORCE A CRIMINAL GOVERNMENT-VOTE FOR CHANGE THAT WILL BRING SRI LANKA THE PROMISE OF A FUTURE WITHOUT ARMED BANDS OF THUGS BREAKING INTO YOUR HOMES AND KILLING YOUR FAMILIES IN THE NAME OF FALSE DEMOCRACY. SEND RAJAPAKSA HOME AND INITIATE THE RECOVERY AND RESTRUCTURING PERIOD THAT IS NEEDED BY ALL COUNTRIES AFTER WAR.
I am not a politician – I am a Stateswoman and a major landholder asking all the peoples of my country to attain constitutional justice by voting for change and an end to impunity. Recovering the constitutional rights guaranteed under the 17th amendment for adequate disclosures to the public of what is being initiated on their behalf will help guarantee that government will not abuse powers by illegally holding onto such and there will not be a return to the past wide scale violences that has left up to a hundred thousand of our fellow countrymen dead in the past 30 years – Rajapakse is daily speaking of traitors to the country without acknowledging that his actions are most treacherous by not implementing the constitutional rights that protect ALL citizens and not just perpetuating a fiasco . Rao should know that her name has come up in some inconsistent dealings at CPC.

How do I go about helping an alcoholic family member?

Question by perutt2002: How do I go about helping an alcoholic family member?
I have had a sister and brother-in-law living with me while their new home is being built. During every dinner for one month I have seen the two of them share entire bottle of wine. How do I go about helping the two of them beat their alcoholism?

Best answer:

Answer by Mr. Taco
Talk to them. Get online and do a search on alcoholism and give them the literature on it. Call Al-Anon. And that is about it. Ultimately only THEY can beat their alcoholism. Other than supplying the information they need and your support, there is not a lot you can do.

Q&A: What do you think about this court decision? from Yahoo News… Judge: Man must display victim’s picture?

Question by johnnybassline: What do you think about this court decision? from Yahoo News… Judge: Man must display victim’s picture?
BARTOW, Fla. – A judge has ordered a man who pleaded guilty to vehicular homicide to display a large picture of the victim in his home after serving two years in prison.
Circuit Judge Robert Doyel said Friday that the picture must be at least 2 feet wide and displayed prominently. It also must include lettering that says: ‘I’m sorry I killed you.’
Arthur Pierce, 31, was racing with his cousin on a busy street when they caused an accident that killed 17-year-old Chelsi Gregory, authorities said. Witnesses told police Pierce was swerving in traffic at about 120 mph when his Cadillac collided with a pickup in which Gregory was a passenger.
A prosecutor also said alcohol was a factor in the crash. Pierce’s cousin, Christopher Pierce, is set to be sentenced April 5.
An advocate for Mothers Against Drunk Driving requested the photograph be part of Pierce’s sentence, according to The Ledger of Lakeland newspaper.
The judge said that Pierce’s probation officer will be allowed to search his hom
The judge said that Pierce’s probation officer will be allowed to search his home at any time, and if the photograph is not displayed, it will be considered a probation violation.

What does the law say about custody in Arizona?

Question by lns0mnlak: What does the law say about custody in Arizona?
I have a 14 year old sister that lives with her mother most of the time (she sees her dad every other weekend). Over the past year her mother has become pregnant and let the boyfriend move in. The boyfriend has two young boys and is an alcoholic. The mother has lost control as the boyfriend continues to get drunk and regularly argue with my 14 year old sister. Her mother doesn’t stop what is going on and everyone I have talked to is completely appalled that she lets this drunk man go into her 14 year old daughters room late at night to argue. My sister is also worried that he’s eventually going to beat her mother. My question is whether or not her father can get more custody of her so she can move in with him especially with the chaos of a new baby and alcoholism where she is living now. I need serious, well thought answers with good advice to act on. Thanks!
I’m just helping gather information. The question asks what HE can do legally. He is very upset, but doesn’t want to act without thinking it through and weighing his options. Thanks!

Best answer:

Answer by NoLifeSigns
Your first question should be, where is Dad at anyway? Surely he knows this is happening, and if so, what is he going to do about it?

What you can or cannot do legally is irrelevant if the dad doesn’t want the custody changed, or has some reason why it shouldn’t or can’t be changed.

You are really putting the cart before the horse, here. First talk to dad, and then if things are looking good that way, then talk to a lawyer. You won’t be able to do anything without one anyway.

I’m filing for divorce at husband’s request and am very worried about his threats. Anyone have info or exp?

My husband’s alcoholism has gone from bad to worse, causing constant fighting and arguing. He told me to file for divorce, which was not what I really wanted.
We are still in the same house. It is in my name alone, bought before the marriage, and he signed a quit claim leaving it as my sole and separate property when I refinanced.
I have been responsible for the mortgage payment and most bills. I have used 100% of my net pay on taking care of the bills (over $5000 a month). He would put in about $300 a week for groceries, outings, and gas, when he felt like it.
I am being nice by not getting a restraining order. He is very abusive, and there are about 10 incident reports with the sheriff’s dept. I don’t want to force him out, evict him, or anything like that. But my daughter and I can’t even live in peace because he comes to her room to harrass me every single evening (I stay in her room since we only have 2 bedrooms)
Here are the main financial details. I refinanced when prices were high. The value has dropped about 150K from 360K to 210K, and I owe 219K, so there’s no equity in the house whatsoever. There are also loans, credit cards, and car payments. The credit cards are all in my name because of his bad credit, but he has used them and accrued thousands in debt, which he has never tried to pay. The debt is about 110K. I am currently able to pay all of the bills, and with some adjustments, probably do so even without any of his income, since he gave me so little.
To me it seems like if he went after the house (my sole and separate property), we would both owe about 110K to pay off the mortgage and another 50K to pay the bills.
To me it just seems like leaving my house to me and letting me assume all the debts makes more sense. He can easily live off his income in an apartment, and have money left over. But he says he will get alimony because he is used to vacations, Lakers games, and other things.
He says his parents are hiring a lawyer because he is getting half the house (that has no equity), alimony because he is used to a certain lifestyle (even though 2 years of our 6 year marriage were spent in prison), and he is going to make sure that my daughter and I have no where to go.
What could a lawyer possibly do to benefit him in this situation? There is no equity and no money, but there is over 100k in debt. He is making so many threats that I feel like I will be on the streets.
Why would a lawyer want a case like this?
If you have any experience with this or know anything about this from a legal standpoint, please please share your infomation with me. I will greatly appreciate it.

How do I go about solving this statistics problem?

I am not asking for the answer to this problem. I would just like to know how to go about solving it. I have a TI-83 plus calculator (I know this problem requires the use of a calculator in order to perform the test), so it would be helpful if you could refer to that or a similar calculator. Once again, I am not asking for the answer and am not trying to have others do my homework for me. I truly want to learn how to do this. Thank you for your help.

An experiment was conducted to test the effects of alcohol. The errors were recorded in a test of visual and motor skills for a treatment group of people who drank ethanol and another group given a placebo. The results are shown in the accompanying table. Use a 0.05 significance level to test the claim that the two groups come from populations with the same mean. Do these results support the common belief that drinking is hazardous for drivers, pilots, ship captains, and so on?

Treatment group:
n1=22
x1=4.20
s1=2.20

Placebo Group
n2=22
x2=1.71
s2=0.72

How do you feel about a situation where a baby is born to an out of wedlock mother who has already had custody?

of one child removed and given to the father. She would not abide by court orders after being given nearly two years to take parenting classes, go to rehab and get off drugs, counceling, etc., and was arrested for harboring a fugitive during the time. During these four years after the first child, she miscarried one, and had a new infant. Upon birth, she knows who the father is sure enough to tell friends, but she does not tell the father. She lists “father unknown” on the child’s birth certificate. Should she be allowed to take another child home? What do you think about not listing the father or at least a paternity test? Should our laws allow such as this to happen? She has no steady job, no drivers license, no vehicle, and is currently living with prestigious parents that have thrown her out of the house three times.
She would not consider abortion.

what do you think about lrgalizing all drugs?

Prohibition does not prevent cannabis use by children or the mentally ill, the vulnerable populations whom we supposedly want to protect. Instead, cannabis prohibition makes it more difficult for parents, patients, society, doctors and law enforcement to control cannabis use.

The Drug War makes honest education about cannabis impossible, and leaves cannabis users marginalized in ways that make their lives more stressful.
This stress is unhealthy for everyone, but it is certainly most damaging to people with schizophrenia.

Cannabis prohibition is not merely a failure; it is a counterproductive fraud that is harming those whom we claim we want to protect.
There are currently more teens in treatment centers for marijuana in comparison to those admitted for alcohol.
Only an idiot would have to ask why alcohol is not the no#1 problem
after all alcohol is perfectly legal ( If you are 21.)
That is due to responsible people handling alcohol by way of the carding and id system.

Contraband markets make no age disgression.
Since the crackdown on tobacco there are 75% fewer teens trying or using tobacco.
However when it comes to cannabis and other illicit substances it’s a whole
other ball game.
Control, regulation and better education work prohibition, dose not.
Or as John Walters of the ondcp (Office for national drug control policy) calls it “ a war on drugs” (Sorry John but it’s true look at the Netherlands)

America loves a war even if it is on it’s own people.

One of several reason they don’t legalize drugs is not because of the harm of drugs,
But people would lose more money in the long run.
Some of the people behind the support of this irrational so called war are
The tobacco industry,
the alcohol and distilled spirit industry ( people simply don’t drink as much, or decide not to drink at all with cannabis meaning a decline in there sales.
The pharmaceutical corporations can not make money on whole or raw cannabis, but they can charge an arm and a leg for there synthetic Marinol (dronabinol) CIII.

The textile and paper industry would lose out from hemp production, sinse hemp dose not need to go through all the various processes that ordinary tree products would. Also it’s possible to get two harvest in one season.

However people don’t know the difference between industrial hemp and smokeable cannabis, yet they are able to distinguish between the two in other country’s like Germany, the UK , Netherlands and even Canada, but our `DEA agents are so dumb they cant tell the difference between a stalk and a bush.
Also people who have any knowledge of growing high quality cannabis will tell you that male plants should never be grown next to your high grade female plants,
(unless of course you want to pollinate for future seed production).
When it comes to farming hemp the males are left in tact to pollinate the females and produce as much seed as possible.

This would mean a seedy mess for the pot smoker to clean up and produce undesirable future generations of smokeable cannabis.

If anything, Hemp farming would be anti marijuana and would harm any outdoor pot farming within a one mile radius of any hemp farm.

The petroleum industry would also be affected, sinse almost everything that can be made from petroleum can be synthesized from hemp oil, everything from bio fuel to even plastics. If North America would use a third of it’s land for hemp production we could create enough bio fuel to supply an area the size of Canada.

Now also for a moment consider how many people are incarcerated over just cannabis who are currently in the prisons and jails.
If cannabis were legalized and all inmates serving time for cannabis were freed there would be an over abundance of empty cells, and millions of guards in this country would be no longer needed.
The prison building industry would almost be obsolete ( and if all drugs were legalized that would mean even more empty cells).

So the prison system must have some means of gaining more inmates.
Not to mention other areas such as treatment centers, probation.etc
or HIDTA high intensity drug traffic areas where money is fed in to law enforcement,
(they would miss there green $$$)

Drugs , not even alcohol are the cause of the fundamental ills of society, rather than checking people for the presence of drugs, they should first test people for stupidity, ignorance, greed and love of power.

What should I do about my drug problem.?

I just got out of a 90 day rehabilitation center in Jasper. I had a bad problem with meth and ampetamines(adderall), i was sober for almost 120 days and here recently i have went back to my old habits, lying, stealing, doing anything to get high. I am constantly seeking my next high. I am court ordered to attend NA meetings and attend an outpatient rehab every monday and thursday, there i get randomly drug tested, if i fail im goin back to rehab, but now im wondering if maybe it’s the best thing before i end up dead?

Pros and cons about Alcoholics Anonymous? Is it worth a try or is something else better?

I have been receiving counseling via group therapy for alcohol issues. The counselor (private clinic, paid for by my insurance), is a big time Alcoholics Anonymous supporter and a member himself. At all the sessions I attend, he pushes AA (and NA and CA) on the patients. I’ve been going to group for a couple of months now and have begun to wonder what all the fuss is about, so I asked for some local meeting addresses. I’ve never been big on the “higher power” concept that is prevalent in AA. It’s a big turnoff. I am not religious and it seems like AA is geared towards people who are religious in one way or another, and it really seems skewed toward Judeo-Christian beliefs.

I’ve done a bunch of research on it and I don’t like what I’ve been reading. Is there an alternative to the 12 Steps? I’ve stopped drinking and been sober for 4 months now with really no cravings and very little desire to drink, except in some social situations, such a bars, etc., which I frankly try to avoid right now, since I find them to be pretty boring.

My question is for those people out there that have experience in one way or another with AA. Is is a “cult”? Why do you think so? If you think it’s helpful, why? If you think it doesn’t promote change, or is actually harmful, why?

My treatment is court-ordered and I have reason to believe that my counselor doesn’t think I’ve remained sober all this time, mainly because I’m not active in AA. I get the feeling that the counselor thinks I’m lying to him about not drinking. It is difficult for me to make it to meetings, as I work full time, have a husband who is a full time student and also have 2 dogs that need to potty after a long day stuck in the house. I also take the bus, so getting to a meeting outside my immediate area would take ages. I’ve been doing well on my own, and really am only interested in meeting some people to hang out with that don’t drink alcohol, since so many people’s lives in my area revolve around it and the local bars, etc.

Thanks in advance!
I’m currently in treatment and haven’t yet been to an AA meeting. It’s the counselor that is pushing AA and touting it as a great thing. I’m not so sure when I start reading about how easily they dismiss those who have gotten sober on their own.

How can I make it clear I do not wish to hear about my estranged sister? My family is haunting me about this

My eldest sister is the original 50 year old drama queen who’s life has mirrored anything like a soap opera. If it isn’t 3 out of her 4 kids being hard core drug users, it’s her own drug use, her husbands alcoholism, lies, theft, police, jail, prison, the list goes on and on and on.

My eldest sister is not only mentally ill, but she is obviously using drugs… which she will never admit too. I am tired. I am tired of all the drama and considering she lives 1200 miles away I hear about it still.. through my other sisters.

I made the decision to remove the drama from my life. I have my own troubles and don’t wish to be drawn down anymore.

Most recently one of my siblings was speaking to me about “helping” the eldest sister and how I should feel sorry for her and forgive her. I said , “I forgaver her long ago” I just don’t want her in my life. I told my sibling that she needs to quit trying to fix something that isn’t hers to fix. How can I make i clear I don’t want
and honestly the stress isn’t good for my own health issues and neither on my husband who has multiple sclerosis. How can I make it clear and I mean it. I don’t want to be burdened anymore?
