Question by belle: Brother-in-law on cocaine?
My brother in law is snorting cocaine and now he is taking things from their house. He keeps saying he doesn’t have a problem. What are ways she can have him removed from the residence. She can’t afford an attorney, he has drained the account, but luckily she has shut down his debit card so he has no access to money anymore but now things are missing from their home.

Best answer:

Answer by ♥Invisible Pink Unicorn♥
She can have him civilly committed to rehab through the courts -

It generally only takes 2 people for the civil committment

Been there done that

Question by Auxiliadora: Confronting father-in-law about alcoholic son, my husband.?
I love my husband, however he is an alcoholic. I’ve tried several different things to try to help him, but he is resistant. He won’tread a book I purchased, although he promised to read it for my bday. He won’t go to AA. He has admitted on several occassions that he has a problem, but won’t go to anyone for help. I’ve recommended a psychiatrist, but he claims thats stupid b/c if he doesn’t know why he drinks, how are they going to know? He says over and over he’s quitting (we’re talking years) and “he has to start somewhere,” meaning that when I complain that he’s drinking beer, he says at least he’s quit drinking hard liquor, yet still gets drunk.

So the question is, I’ve been debating talking to his father about this for quite sometime. He truly respects his father and he is one of the few people he responds to, but do I drag him into this? I know my husband will be furious/embarrassed, but I don’t know what else to do. And will my father-in-law really have an influence?

Best answer:

Answer by K P
I would go to al-anon first, and do what you can to stop being co-dependent. Go to marriage counseling. Even if you go by yourself – chances are – he’ll end up going to, men especially with addictions, want their side to be heard and want to know what your sharing with the counselor.

Your husband will be embarrassed and you shouldn’t bring parents into your family affairs. I would keep FIL out of it.

What do you think? Answer below!

Question by Red Hat: FBI vs. Local Law Enforcement in Narcotics.?
I live in Arizona. What are the different reponsibilities to the FBI and say the Phoenix PD Narcotics Unit have when dealing with Narcotics?

Best answer:

Answer by dh1977
A local city Police narcotics unit focuses on local buyers and sellers that operate in their community. Usually the focus consists of street level dealers that operate in small to average sized quantities. Occasionally, enough of these small to mid sized arrests can lead to an intercept of a larger shipment or sale occurring in their city. In a city the size of Phoenix, the local Narc unit would also focus on whether the local dealers were helping to fund gang activity, and whether local dealers had ties to other crimes such as prostitution or burglary.
The FBI does not deal much with narcotics. The main cause that the FBI would focus on a narcotics case would be if the drugs were funding organized crime or were being orchestrated by someone connected to another federal case. High level drug ring cases are handled on a federal level by the DEA, sometimes assisted by ICE.

In U.S.legal context, narcotic refers to opium, opium derivatives, and their semi-synthetic or fully synthetic substitutes “as well as cocaine and coca leaves,” which although classified as “narcotics” in the U.S. Controlled Substances Act (CSA), are chemically not narcotics. Contrary to popular belief, marijuana is not a narcotic. Neither are LSD and other psychedelic drugs.[4]

Many law enforcement officials in the United States inaccurately use the word “narcotic” to refer to any illegal drug or any unlawfully possessed drug.

Best answer:

Answer by Mommy Of 1
Depending on what medication it is…. some meds like vicodin, norco, and lortab can be refilled over the phone…
‘
but stuff like oxycontin, methadone and percocet you need an office visit or atleast to pick up the rx in the dr’s office,

Question by david3flush: How do you feel about America’s drug laws?
I think their un-constitunal. The currant drug laws are designed to protect the stupid, from themselves. If dumb people die from over doses of, crack, smack, or what ever. They will not reproduce, which means no more dumb, stupid kids, for the rest of us to have to deal with, when they grow-up. There’s another good reason to legalize drugs, all drugs. The goverment could tax the hell out of them, and maybe just maybe, balance the budget.

Best answer:

Answer by WAKEUP
They are stupid, useless and work for the government, keeping people in jail and ‘employed’– in a way…
perhaps even keeping the masses sedated.

Question by amecake83: Atheism = Alcoholism?
My moyher n law( a recovering alcoholic) stated that 50+ atheists have ,since she began the 12 step program, finally admitted to a higher power. And only after that were they able to begin their healing process. It is about giving up the “control’ that you think you have over the universe. The “control” is like a lie that one tells them selves to feel better. a coping mechanism which then might turn into alcoholism. ( I hope my Aunt who was killed by a drunk driver is looking over my family and I)

Best answer:

Answer by sleeper.service
I’m sorry, but that’s too stupid for words.

Alcoholism is a disease and people cope with it however they can. Belief in a higher power may be one such method, critical self analysis may be another.

Question by : Would gun control laws be as ineffective as drug control laws?
Think, marihuana and cocaine are illegal but are extremely easy to obtain by anyone so wanting them. And, society pays dearly in blood by them being illegal.
The atrocity committed in Arizona, by Loughner has predictably generated calls for new gun-control laws in the U.S.
Some want bans on the extended-capacity ammunition clips. Others want improved background screening.
Would these or other laws prevent incidents like the Arizona shooting? Probably not. And such laws, along with existing gun controls, not only harm responsible gun owners but may even increase violence as does drug control.
Gun control laws basically permit legal gun ownership for most people in most instances, while imposing modest costs on legitimate gun owners. Examples include criminal-background checks, waiting periods to purchase a gun, minimum purchase ages, and the such.
These laws, did not deter Loughner, who had contemplated and planned his attack for a long time. The reason is simple: These laws are readily circumvented.
Yes there are loopholes for lunatics
Consider, a ban on extended-capacity ammunition clips. If these had been unavailable, Loughner could still have carried out his attack with a 10-bullet clip [ it takes about 1/2 second to reload a clip ], and he might have aimed more carefully knowing he had less ammunition. Loughner could have brought several guns, allowing him to continue firing without interruption. Loughner could have bought a black- market clip.
Gun controls like those being proposed in all likelihood would NOT prevent psychotics on a mission.
But gun controls, do have adverse consequences. They evolve into strict limits on guns, bordering on outright prohibition. No evidence is available that gun controls lower violence: In fact the first year Australia imposed gun controls there was a 40% increase in criminal gun related actions.[see effects of gun control in Australia]

Strict controls and prohibition, moreover, wouldn’t eliminate guns any more than drug prohibition stops drug trafficking and use. Thus the classic slogan — when guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns — isn’t only a word play; it is a fundamental insight into the folly of gun prohibition. Such an approach means the bad guys are well-armed while law-abiding citizens are not. .
BUT…!!
Beyond being ineffective, gun prohibition would very likely even increase violence by creating a large black market in guns. So if gun laws follow the path of drug laws, we can expect more violence under gun prohibition than in a society with limited or no controls. The sad reality is that every society has a few people whose mental instabilities cause serious harm to others. This is tragic, but it doesn’t justify ineffective and possibly counter- productive attempts to prevent such harm. In reality had Loughner smashed the congresswoman’s head with a baseball bat….she would have been dead on the spot, pieces of skull..and brain scattered beside her lifeless body.
So?……Should we control baseball bats?
A psychotic person on a mission to kill someone does not even need a gun..!
A baseball bat,hammer,straight razor,dagger,scissors,…heck even a 2 by 4…would do the job.

Best answer:

Answer by Chase Cog
Yes because Gun control laws cant take any gun away from any one unless the gun was illegal in the first place.
