I am taking a short-term injectable medication under a specialists orders. The medication is supposed to last me 21 days, but it came as a 14 day “kit” with the vial, 14 needles, and 14 alcohol swabs. Can I go to a pharmacy and buy the syringes or do I need to talk to my Dr. to get a prescription? Would my primary care Drs office have them if I went and asked? My specialist is halfway accross the country, but my primary care Dr. is aware of my treatment plan. (They are insulin syringes – They are the really short ones for just under the skin so I doubt they could be used for illegal drugs.) I don’t understand why he didn’t just write the prescription to cover the number of needles I needed in the first place ???.
Obviously I will not be reusing needles so no need to warn me. I am disposing of used needles properly.

Tell your pharmacist about the problem. I’m certain they can help you.
Yes, the short needles work just fine for both legal and illegal drugs.
