Prison would probably make it worse when he gets out.

Hell have more connects, clientel, and in prison all they talk about is beating the system and shit. It would make it worse if anything.

Nope… you can’t scare the change. You’ve gotta get down to your lowest point and cry out to God to save you… then you are healed. Hitting rock bottom sucks… but can be the best point to be… nowhere to go but up!

I can understand why most rehabs don’t work. They are taking the wrong approach to curing someone. Until they change how they do things they are going to continue to have people using again. But that is what keeps them in business isn’t it?

Prison will help detox the person. But if the person does not want to get clean, as soon as they get out they will use. I personally am in NA, and I used many, many years. You cannot get clean “for” someone. You have to want it, and do it for yourself. Just as drug abuse is selfish, so is getting and staying clean. Get a sponsor and do 90 meetings in 90 days.

The thought of anal rape is enough to keep me doing whatever I would need to do to stay out of prison.

    MAKE IT WORK.

GOD HELP THOSE THAT HELP THEMSELVES.

PRISON WOULD HAVE TO BE THE LAST PLACE ANYONE WOULD WANT TO GO TO.

Have you ever seen the show “JAIL”? There is some pretty severe stuff that goes on there – prisoners getting in fights, sneaking in weapons and other forbidden items. I’m guessing that jail does not help people recover from drug addiction, because it just mixes them in with other people with worse issues – murderers, etc. I think for some people it takes multiple attempts at rehab to get better, and the key is that they have to WANT to get better – not just the addict’s family, but the addict has to want to get better – and they need to be in a group to help them when they return from an inpatient program to stay sober and clean.

Nothing will work, unless the addict wants it to work. You can’t make or punish someone into giving up drugs or alcohol. They have to want to quit more then anything else in the world and be determined to do what ever it takes to quit and never use again. The power to quit has to come from inside of them.

Coming from a recovering alcoholic of 18+ yrs., you have to WANT it to work. Regardless of where you go, unless you do NOT want to be clean & sober, nothing but nothing is going to work. IF you want to go to mtgs. like I did, work the program like it’s suppose to be worked, then it WILL definitely work for YOU too. Some wks. I went to mtgs. 8 times in a wk. Got a sponsor & did exactly what she told me to do. I was sick & tired of being sick & tired. I also asked my “higher power” God, to “take away the desire”…this HE DID. I have NO desire whatsoever to pick up a drink. I would NOT do ANYTHING to jeopardize my sobriety. My sobriety date means MORE to me than my birthday! It’s there for the taking, all you have to do is want to take it! I would choose a 30 day program any day over jail! Check yourself into a 30 day program & work it to the very fullest…your very life depends on it! ALL the BEST to you…YES YOU CAN…:)
