Why do people always find God in prison & rehab? Does he like hanging out there more than rich peoples homes?

Or is it just that the guards and dogs at the rich people’s homes keep him out?

Blessed are the poor in spirit to me means that when we are at our weakest is when we will be able to surrender to God the easiest.

Its easier to convince the criminals and druggies that god is real. Rich people are usually educated and too smart for that crap.

Blessed are the poor and those that aid them.

HELLO! I’ve been saying that for years.

Prison – the new house of god.

Look what happened to Gary Busey. He went to jail a perfectly normal (well, kind of) guy and came out a religious fanatic.

They find God because while they are in prison and rehab, they have alot of time by themselves to think of what they’ve done and why they did it and how it affected them.

Well, AA (alcoholics anonymous) and NA (narcotics anonymous) are Christian based organisations. the 12 step programs have a lot to do with chrisitan faith.

    As for prison…

If I was in danger of getting “stabbed” in the shower on a daily basis, I’d probably take up praying, too.

Because only the smartest people end up in jails. Wait…what did I just say?

People find God in those places because it shows society that they are trying to change based on blind belief. It is all show and tell. Most criminals who found God in prison will go and commit the same crime, most people in rehab will go and continue their addiction. Them finding God is only a mask they use when talking to the public to present themselves as a born again Christian.

Jail cells and rehab rooms are smaller that palatial mansions so there are fewer sock drawers to look in. It’s just easier to find him. At a rich person’s house he could be hiding at the back of the wine cellar, under the Jag, behind the mink coat, underneath the billiard table, in the servants’ quarters….

I’m hardly the first one to observe that it is harder for a rich man to get into heaven than it is for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle.

People in prison and rehab have a lot of time to think and reflect on themselves and their past mistakes and character flaws. You didn’t want a serious answer though, did you?

People in prison and rehab have nothing but time to kill. People on the outside have plans and dates and appointments and meetings and jobs and kids and houses to keep clean, etc. There is a verse in the Bible that says “Be still & know I am God.” You can surely see how much easier it would be for someone locked in a tiny cell to “be still” and find God. God is there for all of us just waiting for us to acknowledge Him and seek a relationship with Him. Sadly for most of us we are just too busy to find Him.

As a prison minister I can say that it is because in these places a person reaches his lowest level of pride, and he is willing to trade it all in for humility. People in prison are broken, and it takes a broken person to accept Christ. People who are stuck up with pride like rich people are cannot accept Christ because they are too high on themselves. This is why Jesus said that it is hard for a rich man to enter heaven—pride will keep them out every time.

To buy into the religion scam, people need either to be indoctrinated since childhood, or have some emotional crisis which makes them susceptible to suggestion (death of a loved one mostly, but prison will do that too).

You didn’t find him there, did you? Your loss! God bless, it is never too late!

because a lot of the prisons are becoming faith based! they also have faith organizations that visit and preach to them and depending on how much time one has that is something to do until they get out and continue with it or go back to there old ways! sad! hope this helps you

I’ve always wondered why it’s only Christians that see their biblical figures on toast and in water stains on bridges, but you never hear of any other religion claiming something comparable.

I believe that in places like prisons and rehab centers people have hit the bottom and realize that GOD is all there is.They are calling HIM there.

Unfortunately many of them forget when they are released and seek the same pleasures or way of life that led them to prison or rehab.

Not too many rich people are crying oand on their knees begging GOD to help and forgive them. Their usually at a party or entertaining and during these times many forget to invite GOD.

    Always, No.
For some it is easier to find God when they are broken & scraping the bottom of the barrel, then it is for someone on top of the world & proud.

As a Bible study teacher for a jail I can tell you that they turn to God because there is hope in Him. By the time they get to the jail they have lost all hope. I see that a lot of you have funny answers but to them there is nothing funny about it. Do you think that this is where they planned to be when they grew up? Don’t you think that they all had dreams of some kind when they were young? It all came about because of one wrong choice. Being in the jail may be the first time in years that they are able to think clearly. They want to change! and they know that they need a stronger power than themselves.

Jesus said he came not for the healthy but the sick. If you think life is going fine, you are not usually looking for an answer. The people in prison many times have realized their sin and inability to help themselves, they are ready to hear Christ calling to them, and have plenty of time not doing much for Him to get their attention.
