Even file clerks working for the government are required to take mandatory drug tests. We have a president who is a recovering alcoholic, a recovering cocaine addict, and in addition, he thinks that God talks to him. He has been known to take extended vacations out of public view.
Don’t you think that the president should take drug tests? Otherwise, I say impeach him.
Question: Come January 2009, what are you going to do with your spare time, when you don’t have President Bush to kick around?
Answer: I’ll be pressuring our president, Barack Obama, to do the right thing for the American people. He will be under huge pressure from media and military – industrial – congressional complex to provide corporate payoffs.
Ralph Nader should head up a new consumer protection department and single-payer health system. Let’s get rid of some military waste to pay for it.

Sure. How about Senators, Representatives and Judges, too?
I wonder what we’d find in Teddy Kennedy’s system?

Congress specifically exempted themselves, the Judiciary and Executive branches from drug testing. They were afraid the testing would become political. Moreover, they refused to regulate the standards of drug testing laboratories.
The result is: the US Supreme Court stipulated we can only base a religion on wine.
If Adolf Hitler had envisioned drug testing he would be a hero to today’s American government.

nope
I think the current US pres rates very low in the “judgement”
arena
but “drug-test” … no
the potential for “unintended consequences” is way too big,
and way too bad
(I’m appalled at his behaviour, but still say “no” … the
Consitution is too great an instrument to go screwing around
like that)

The president, all Senators, Congressmen and Federal Judges should have to take random drug tests, just like the average postal worker or school bus driver.
The president should not be an exception to the rules. We have the right to know if our commander in chief is high while he is making decisions which affect all of our lives.
Alcohol or marijuana use should not be reported. One is legal and the other has been used by about half of the population at some time in their lives. Neither will have severe, long-term effects.
The drugs which would be grounds for impeachment would be: LSD, Heroin, Cocaine and Methamphetamines. All of those would have severe, long-term effects on the ability of a president to make competent decisions.
In response to one of the other responses: President Bush’s problems with alcohol and cocaine are well-documented. It is valid to question whether a former addict may have relapsed. Especially when he has access to the nuclear codes.
If I was the moderator, I probably wouldn’t have removed the other question, either, though, as Obama has also admitted to using cocaine in the past. I didn’t get a chance to read anything but the headline, though; it may have had something invalid in the rest of the question.

I think they should. We wouldn’t want another Bush walking around. And I still think we should impeach his behind. TOMORROW!!!!

Every one of the people that are paid by the feds should be dragged out and publicly executed without trial because it’s so obvious what their crimes are and how guilty they all are today! There’s so much graft, collusion, corruption, cronyism, and patronage in the federal government, it makes me sick just to think about it! They’re all obsessive/compulsive dick smoking drug addicts!

“Otherwise, I say impeach him.”
yeah, sure whatever.
Question for you.
Come January 2009, what are you going to do with your spare time, when you don’t have President Bush to kick around?

I suspect you say “Impeach him” either way… (wink)
I think if government officials are required to submit to routine drug testing then that should not stop at the door to the oval office.
Much of George Bush’s behaviors have been odd, questionable, dangerous and worse, but I don’t think he should be singled out as the lone president who submits to testing – they all should.
