I have an uncle who is addicted to cocaine, but has no desire so seek help. We have tried to help him, but he thinks his whole family hates him and is just out to get him. He has never been arrested for it, but if he did, how many times would he have to actually go to jail before the system sees fit to order him into rehab? Will they do it after the first offense? I don’t think he sells, I just think he is buying it for himself.
He lives at my grandma’s and has the blinders pulled over her eyes. She doesn’t see the problem, but in two years he cannot get a job. He keeps lying and making up excuses about why he can’t get work. He is sucking my grandma dry of all finances and she is even pawning everything she owns jUSt to give him money so he can “go find another job.”
Please help!!! Has anyone ever been through this and how can we help him?????
No one in our family is able to pay for him to go into rehab, that is why I want to know how the courts can help us out.

well for one i don’t think the court will order it unless he is harming himself and others.. u have to prove that.. plus if he gets locked up on one or more occasions then the judge will order it… but if he gets locked up then u nor anyone in ur family should bail him out… let him learn his lesson in jail…

my uncle is a drug addict as well! but he got in MAJOR trouble with the law. so he is now in jaill..for a lot of years, so the jail ordered him into a rehab program…
what you can do, is go to a hospital and tell them that ur uncle needs help…im sure they will help you out..or you can always go to the police and ask them for advice! they are always there for ANYONE!
i hope you uncle gets better and your family stays srtong!
i know what it is lik to hav an uncle with a drug problem and in jail…my father is both! and he is an alcoholic…
good luck!

set him up and get him busted is a good place to start. go talk to your local probate judge and he/she will tell you what to do…..I had a very similar problem with my oldest daughter. Its a very bad spot to be in…good luck…if I can help in any way contact me at mfroeh@yahoo.com
