How do you get a court order for someone who needs rehab?

Children services have been called because an 11 year old is in the household. But this person is using drugs and refuses to get help. I think she’s bipolar but I don’t have the money to pay for rehab so I figured is there any way to get a court order for a state funded rehab program.

The only a court will order rehab is if she is convicted of a crime. If you want to help her–get her arrested. You know she does drugs so call the cops on her when you know she has drugs in the house. the judge will order her to rehab instead of jail.

You can go to court and file for a petition to have them examined by a court psychiatrist. The psychiatrist will assess the person to see if they are seriously in need of help. The person has to be really bad for it to happen. If they are found to need help then the court can mandate it. It is very very hard to force treatment on anyone. How old is the person using? If she is diagnosed, then she can take advantage of mental health services through your state’s dept. of mental health. As the Children’s protective service worker to get her the help. They are your biggest help now. They aren’t there to screw the family. They can find services and places that she can take advantage of for help. That’s what they are there for.
